Behind The Viral Video: My First Live Show

The model chosen for this Live Show was Tyler Monzingo, a model I started working with when he was 19. We had produced a number of body paintings together, but this was our first foray into a live experience. We both had a lot of worries, but we hoped it would be a positive experience. A rare photo of Tyler smiling:
Once everyone was comfortably seated, I started the process of painting him.
You can see that in the beginning I didn't have professional lights, I had a pretty limited paint selection, and my "fan base" was MUCH smaller! They were mostly pretty amazing friends that wanted to support my efforts. Most of them had never seen a live painting on a body before (and even today, I rarely do live demonstrations).
The process went fairly smooth, and I tried to engage the audience as much as possible.
I was using cream based paints at the time, and those always proved to be difficult. You can also see I used to sketch out each painting beforehand!
You can see the whimsical creatures starting to appear in this photo. Since my drawings were popular at the time, I decided to stick with something people knew.
And now to present the finished product:
At some point I may release video footage of this painting, but the easiest way to convey the experience and talk about it was through these photos.
