Chapter 2: Super Baby

Not long after, they brought me back to their home. I guess that makes them my mom and dad now.
The whole ride in the car, I struggled to breathe. My tiny lungs were burning, like I was suffocating. I figured it must have been my Kryptonian body adjusting to Earth's atmosphere. Every breath was a fight, and let me tell you—choking on air is not a pleasant experience.
My new mom and dad looked terrified, whispering prayers under their breath. Well, they better pray the sun rose quickly, because I knew once sunlight hit me, everything would be fine. Kryptonian biology 101.
After all, killing a Kryptonian—even a baby one—was damn near impossible for normal humans. I would survive. Probably.
What worried me more was the ship I came in. The capsule. How the hell was Jonathan planning to drag that thing back without anyone noticing? And even if he did, how was he gonna hide it? That ship was basically a neon sign saying "Hi, government, free alien tech inside!"
I got dizzy and realized the only thing I could actually do right now was cry, scream, and eventually pass out. Which I did.
When I woke up the next morning, everything was different.
I could breathe freely. My vision was crystal clear. My hearing sharper than ever. The suffocating weakness was gone. The sun had worked its magic, and damn—this just reminded me how broken Kryptonians are under a young yellow sun. And I was literally only a few days old.
The first sight I saw was Martha, her blonde hair messy, holding me against her chest like I might disappear if she let go. She was still half-asleep, most probably exhausted from yesterday's chaos. My new dad was nowhere in sight.
I poked her cheek to wake her up. She stirred, her blue eyes soft, and for a moment, I thought—wow, she's beautiful. Maybe it was just motherly love radiating off her, but still… it got to me.
When she noticed I was awake, she immediately began checking me over, whispering soft words and making silly baby noises. I couldn't help but giggle.
We were sitting by the window, and I started making vague baby sounds, trying to gesture outside. Whether she understood me or just had the same thought, she carried me to the door.
As we stepped out into the open, I had this ridiculous moment where I half-expected to start sparkling like some discount Twilight vampire. Luckily, that didn't happen.
But the instant sunlight hit me, it was like electricity surged through my body. Every cell lit up. I felt euphoric. Blissful. Like pure power was rushing through my veins.
Honestly? It was damn near orgasmic. Which, yeah, is a super weird thing to say considering I was a baby. But hey—don't blame me. Blame Kryptonian biology.
But I knew this was just a feeling. In reality, my Kryptonian cells were simply charging up. The source of Superman's power—my power—was the yellow sun.
Krypton, being almost twenty-seven light years away from Earth and a thousand times bigger, orbited a red sun. Red means an older star. Yellow means younger. And under a younger star, Kryptonians don't just get stronger—we get supercharged.
Sounds boring when I explain it like that—basically, I'm a solar-charged battery. But that battery will one day make me damn near invincible. Not right now, though. Right now, I just wanted to sleep in my new mother's bosom while the sunlight warmed my face. Which is exactly what I did.
Martha smiled when she saw me grinning. She carried a chair outside, sat down with me, and just basked in the sun while probably waiting for her husband to return.
By evening—still day one—I was already walking. Mom and Dad were happy, though a bit shocked. Then again, they probably expected an alien baby to be different.
By day three, I spoke my first word. I had been planning it, too. I wanted to make it hilarious—I wanted to say Martha in Batman's voice. Instead, all that came out was a soft, baby-like, "Ma."
That was enough. Martha burst into tears of joy, hugging and kissing me nonstop for the rest of the day. Honestly, it was kind of nice.
Also there was something else I forgot to mention. On the very first day after bringing me home, Jonathan showed Martha a strange black crystal. It was pointed at one end, flat on the other, with an S mark engraved.
My instincts screamed at me—it had to be the key to the Fortress of Solitude.
At that moment another thought had struck me.
Was I the Codex?
In almost every version, Kryptonians were an insanely advanced civilization. So advanced, in fact, that natural births had been banned for centuries. Instead, they manufactured children artificially, deciding their genetics, their roles, their destinies before they were even born.
But Kal-El—me—was different. The only natural-born Kryptonian in centuries. A break from the system. A child free to carve his own path.
In the Snyderverse movies, Jor-El took it one step further—embedding the Codex, the genetic blueprint of every Kryptonian, into his son's cells. That technically made Superman—me—the ultimate Kryptonian—living DNA storage for their entire species.
If that's the case here, then the Fortress located most likely in the north pole, might already house a genetic chamber. If so… I could literally remake Krypton. Build a whole civilization just from my DNA.
Or, you know… I could just make a harem and repopulate Krypton the old-fashioned way.
Let's be real: I am not gonna be like the original Superman, ignoring women left and right because he's too much of a boy scout. That's not me.
But right now? As a super baby, the only one I can sleep with is Martha.

Saying 'Ma' is definitely the fastest way to endear Martha and Jonathan to their new alien baby. 😌 Also, how did I not know about this novel before? I searched it up and its been on hiatus a few years, but still, I could have had something to read yesterday 😂
