TW Update #32 - Introductions
🕑 Added 2022-05-05 02:46:11 +0000 UTCWell with the basic systems designed for the narrative portion of the game, I figured that now is a good time to work on the full intro.
- In the orientation demo, I kinda threw y'all right into it, and though that worked in the demo, the main game is a little too complicated/tricky to do that with, and so we'll be having a proper introduction. The hope for the intro is you'll get, among other things:
An 'overworld' of sorts to travel around [will probably use this for days off, but the actual useage of it I think will change based on need] - All the top-tabs filled out, so thus be able to check out the Thrallopedia, see some necessary tutorials, check out/interact with 'ventures' such as with the drone exchange or ponyracing
- Be able to visit your apartment and areas in your apartment.
- Get access to ThrallCredit and buy stuff! (Though whether there'll be anything to buy or not...)
- Meet a few new characters, introduce a few new areas, and note some stuff they can/will provide.
It's a fair amount to do, but I feel this is a nice bubble to work on them all in, and some of this can be worked on over a longer span of time while we stitch the intro up to the already-designed orientation.
Right now, as you can tell from the intro image, we're in the drafting phase; I'm hoping to get a navigatable text-version up and available for $10 patrons come the next update, and then revise it as I transfer the text to Unity in the weeks after, adding notes for art-content as I go and designing character assets.
Speaking of, that'll probably be what I'll be streaming on my picarto on Friday, designing one of the characters who turns up in the intro. Should be fun!
I've also done a minor edit to one of the scene repository scenes to correct some text, but it seems to be doing a lot of other woobie-ish things it wasn't before, likely because I've updated my Unity builds since and webGL likely doesn't appreciate that. So I think I'll hold off on updating it just yet and see if I can iron out the kinks for next time.
Expect some non-update posts soon, this month is going to be a pretty interesting one, I think. :)
