Thrallworks Update #16: Minigames and Hubs
🕑 Added 2021-08-25 23:03:51 +0000 UTCNot going to be much in the way of visual updates this time as much of the two weeks has been taken up with either coding or adject Thrallwork, rather I thought I'd use this update to expand a bit more on that and well as more general Dev concerns.
Ponygaem
So on Discord I've started playtesting the rules for the Thrall Pony minigame that's going into the main game. So far, so good! At the very least its not proven broken right out of the gate, so I feel okay starting to use Unity to automate parts of it and start getting it in shape to attach into TW-proper.
Currently this is my only side-project that requires devving and design, and I plan to keep it that way until it's completed to satisfaction. This doesn't preclude other artwork or future commissions, but there'll be nothing of this ilk beyond this.
As this was one of the reasons for switching over to Unity in the first place I feel somewhat obligated to get this done; I'm keenly aware the transition is proving a huge speedbump to development on top of the asset revamp. Speaking of.
Assets: The Live2D question
And what a question. Oh, here's linework of female Keller btw
She's a bit shorter than male Keller, but that's to be expected. I've also got suited versions of her and a few different poses, but didn't feel comfortable implementing her for this latest update.
Part of that is me wondering the value of- EDITED
I did a lot of writing on this subject but realized it was pretty low worth. Here's two pics I used, feel free to guess at the content of what I wrote from them!
So yeah, expect her and a redone L-D19 very soon.
Hubworlds/Menus/Session Scenes/Character Assets
So here's what I'll be doing going forth.
Next update, I'll be giving you a whole bunch of rough sketches of various characters that're in the game, and you can vote on which assets take precedence for finishing and implementation.
However, as soon as F.Keller and L-D19 have been drawn up to satisfaction, Assets are going to take a backseat compared to coding the game; bringing over what's been done and working on clickables to get through the menus. That might change what gets added to these updates, but then that's natural; I've found a bunch of assumptions I had about doing these fortnightly updates to have been off, in regards to what I'd be updating with and what's 'fit for consumption'.
To that end then, a poll! I've a few ideas on some side-scenes to do, as well as wanting to progress on some in-progress ones. So please, vote for the ones you find interesting, and then I'll use the results to weight a roll to see which I'll work on delivering for the next update!
Been thinking more about forms as well, but it's tricky; outside of the park you don't really get much in the way of novel occurences. If I think of something I'll let ya know.
Thanks for your time and support as ever; I know its seemed pony-focused this last month, but all steps lead toward the mountain.
Enjoy!
