Chapter 11: Waking up
🕑 Added 2025-04-12 04:02:47 +0000 UTCMenachel hooked his fingers but found that he now even had difficulty raising his hand.
“You are not dead?”
As soon as he opened his mouth, Menachel was startled by his hoarse voice, but at this moment, the creaking sound of the wooden door being pushed open came. Menachel lowered his head and looked. The low field of vision allowed him to only see the other person’s body.
The whole body was green, which roughly matched the image of an elf. Judging from the physique, it was roughly a male.
He could probably guess that the elves saved him from the dragon’s mouth.
“You are so lucky to survive the dragon’s breath.” This is a familiar voice, from the previous “guide elf”.
“I might as well die directly in this state.”
Menachel closed his eyes, and he turned his head to avoid the leaves that the other party handed over to him for water. And the “guide elf” did not spoil him and stopped feeding him water. He just said slowly: “I don’t want to save you, but you are probably the most likely creature in Gensokyo to defeat the young dragon at this stage.”
But before Menachel could speak, the elf seemed to remember something and added in his clean voice: “Ah… except for that witch, but that woman is not an easy person to get along with.”
Menachel habitually wrote down this information, and then he noticed the elf’s description of the dragon.
Just a cub?
The strong unwillingness spread from the heart to the mouth, burning Menachel unbearably.
“Tsk, what can I use to fight that dragon now!”
He suddenly roared, but perhaps because of the wound, Menachel couldn’t help coughing violently.
“Don’t get excited, drink water first.”
The elf took the opportunity to hand over the leaves again. His innate elderly voice inexplicably reminded Menachel of Merlin.
But Merlin should be following Artoria to guide his training.
Maybe it was just because he was very thirsty, Menachel finally sipped the liquid in the leaves this time. The sweet and refreshing feeling suppressed the burning sensation on Menachel’s body.
“Just fight with the sword, it’s easy, right?” The elf spoke slowly after seeing Menachel finish drinking. There was a rummaging sound beside him, and then the elf shook the familiar hilt of the sword, as if showing something, but because he was too close, Menachel didn’t see it completely: “I watched you fight with that guy, you just lacked a weapon that could break the dragon scales, now I will make you one myself, the sword made with the dragon teeth you broke off will definitely be useful.”
“But then again, your body is also amazing, being pierced by the dragon’s teeth only crippled one leg, if it was a normal human in my impression, they might have been strung together.”
This elf has the potential to be a chatterbox, even if Menachel ignores him, he still talks very vigorously.
If it was normal Menachel who hear such praise, he might have some interest in saying a few words, but at this time, with his body disabled, Menachel was just desperate.
He slowed down, and when he felt his body gradually calm down, Menachel interrupted the elf’s endless speech.
“My current physical condition doesn’t allow me to pick up a sword. I’m disabled.”
One hand and one leg were broken at the same time. Although Menachel was very confident in himself, he didn’t think he could become a “knight with one hand and one leg.”
But the facts proved that Menachel was not confident enough, which could be called “inferiority complex.”
The elf’s voice was full of doubts. Even if Menachel couldn’t see the other’s face, he could imagine the other’s expression at the moment.
“Disabled? What are you talking about?” Then the elf paused, and his tone became teasing again: “Oh-? It turns out that you don’t understand it yourself.”
Understand? Understand what?
“Look for yourself.”
The elf didn’t say much this time. He lifted the fur of an unknown animal covering Menachel’s body, and Menachel glanced down subconsciously.
He was shirtless, and the clothes on his lower body were better than nothing. Fortunately, there was still a piece of cloth to cover his body. The clean fabric told Menachel that someone had changed it for him after the battle. Menachel felt a little uncomfortable when he thought that he had been manipulated while unconscious.
His body was burned over a large area. There was almost no intact skin anywhere he could see, and even some parts of his chest and abdomen had traces of charring. The lower body was not very clear, but it was roughly the same.
But none of these attracted Menachel’s attention. What really concerned him was that his left hand was still there.
Although it was charred, Menachel seemed to have cut off the carbonized part a long time ago, but at this time his arm was still intact.
Was he, regenerating a broken limb? Since even the severely injured hand was like this, then his legs should be like this too.
He wanted to lift his legs, but his body did not receive the will of his brain.
“How is it, isn’t it amazing!” Hearing the elf’s tone, the other party seemed to be more excited than himself: “We tried our best to get the dragon to open its mouth to cover your evacuation, but it spit you out and landed right at my feet. You looked like you were dying at that time, but your body actually repaired itself.”
As if he felt that this was not satisfying, the elf was still muttering words like “incredible” to himself.
“Your body is just like it is made of magic power. If I hadn’t checked that you are indeed flesh and blood, I would have thought you were a familiar of a magician.”
As long as it is not directly broken, it can regenerate with magic power. Such a familiar is probably not something that ordinary people can afford.
Menachel curled his lips, and at this time he couldn’t help but think of Mr. Merlin’s evaluation of his body – [It seems to be a container that only knows how to store magic power].
In the past, Menachel only knew that constantly storing magic power can increase physical strength, but he didn’t expect it to be a “resurrection card.”
Did he find a new use for his body by accident?
“But don’t be too proud too soon.” The elf continued, “Your body’s magic power is probably just like this. You can only rely on rest now.”
“Enough, I will kill the dragon as soon as I recover.” Menachel was in a much better mood. He was now imagining that the dragon would become his own source of magic power.
“Okay, let me ask you in advance. You probably don’t have an appetite for elves.”
With such a physique, it is hard to guarantee that the other party will have some bad thoughts and eat some creatures rich in magic power to recover.
“I have a strong resistance to eating humanoid creatures.”
After receiving a satisfactory answer, the elf turned around and left with a smile.
“It seems that the dragon slayer has been found,”
He thought. In order to kill the dragon, he told the human almost all the known information, but he didn’t say one thing, for fear of undermining the human’s confidence.
The magic of resurrection is a miracle that only appears in myths. How could it be possible to pay only a trivial amount of magic power like [eating a few sub-dragons].
“Familiar, familiar.”
The elf muttered. If that guy is really a familiar of some existence, then after this incident, the magic power that built his body is probably almost exhausted.
In other words, he probably won’t live for many years.
