Chapter 4: Giant Lizard
🕑 Added 2025-04-12 03:58:29 +0000 UTCWith a dull thud, the joyful cheers of the three little ones were heard in the distance.
Finally, in the nearly three-year journey to the village, the cooperation of the three of them finally defeated the sub-dragon species.
Merlin ignored the confrontation between Kai and Menachel. He narrowed his eyes and watched the fight of the three little ones in front of him with his hands behind his back.
The demonized giant lizard was easily chopped down by the cooperation of the three. Although there were three people in his sight, Merlin’s eyes always involuntarily stayed on Menachel for a while. Maybe he stayed on Artoria for a long time, but it is certain that he spent the least time looking at Kai.
I want to cut him open more and more.
The growth of Menachel’s body far exceeded Merlin’s imagination. If Artoria’s swordsmanship has improved the most in the battles with these phantasmal species in recent years, then there is no doubt that Menachel’s swordsmanship can be said to have no improvement.
He was just slashing randomly during the battle, but Menechel’s physique grew, and even reached the same level as Artoria at one point – the damage he caused to the giant lizard in the previous battle was undoubtedly far beyond his current level of swordsmanship.
“Teacher Merlin, the sword is curled again.”
Merlin took the bumpy knight’s sword as usual, and the green light in his hand lit up, and the curling on the sword was immediately smoothed out.
“Menechel, your swordsmanship is not good. A real knight would never use a sword with a curled edge.”
The real knight Kai walked slowly towards him holding his broken sword, and he also handed the broken sword to Merlin.
The strong rust on the two swords made Merlin directly take out another knight’s sword.
And Menechel would not give up this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to taunt Kai. He used the blade he had just repaired to pick up the broken sword that Merlin had discarded on the ground: “I guess a true knight would not break his sword.”
“Nonsense, a true knight is one who can continue fighting after the sword is broken.”
“But you couldn’t even cut the scales on the big lizard’s butt, but I cut off its left limb with one sword.”
“That’s the tail!” Kai immediately got angry, and he repeated loudly: “I said I cut the tail!”
“It was definitely the butt, I saw it with my own eyes.”
Merlin separated the two young men with one hand each. He was not interested in listening to the two discussing such boring topics as “which part of the lizard did Kai cut”. He knocked on Menechel’s forehead with one hand and pressed on Kai’s head with the other.
“Can you two be more mature like Artoria?” Merlin guided the two to look at the girl who was wiping the blood off the blade, and said in a helpless tone as if explaining: “I need to repair almost every battle, and then you two can only be knights’ guards.”
Kai easily broke free from Merlin’s restraints with the advantage of his short height, but for Menachel, who has grown wildly in recent years, he just felt the magician’s strong hand.
“Go and help Artoria to deal with that dragon, we will eat dragon meat tonight.”
Merlin shouted at Kai who had already run away, and at the same time pushed Menachel who was looking at his side and preparing to escape quietly.
“What can you do now to fulfill your oath to protect Artoria?”
Menachel’s struggle slowed down until it stopped completely. Seeing this, Merlin turned his eyes to Artoria again, but his eyes inevitably mixed with a certain Kai who was showing off his new sword.
“Don’t think you have barely caught up with her now.” Merlin revealed word by word: “From the battle just now, whether it is Kai or you, you are just playing a role of harassment. The real winner is never you.”
“I believe you know this better than me.”
Menachel’s eyes flickered. Of course, he knew that his current strength was far inferior to that of Artoria. He didn’t even have the strength to fight with Artoria.
“It would be great if your body could use magic… After all, Artoria has no interest in becoming a magician. As long as you become a magician, maybe you can help her.”
Merlin swung the broken sword handed over by Kai in a show of skill, and as he swung his hand, colorful flames ignited on the sword.
Looking at this magical scene, Menachel clenched his fists, but his body could not store magic power. Even the magic power obtained by eating magical seeds would be quickly converted by his body itself – in that very short time, Menachel could not even recite the spell completely.
“Fortunately, you still have time.” Merlin showed a malicious smile, and his eyes narrowed, and his emotions seemed to overflow from his eyes: “Artoria only told you that she wanted to save the country, right?”
Merlin’s words were merciless. He said in a tone of an outsider: “Artoria is a pure descendant of the red dragon and a chosen warrior. The gap between you and her will only get bigger in the future.”
Merlin said, looking at the surprised Menachel, he threw the “fire sword” on the grass indifferently, and the fire spread immediately, but after spreading to a certain extent, it was restricted and could no longer spread.
“That’s why I advise you to leave. It’s hard for you to catch up with her.”
Menachel gritted his teeth. Even so, he wanted to…
“Don’t think about staying with her. It will only hurt yourself.” Merlin dispelled Menachel’s idea of playing badly. The old and frivolous magician suddenly showed a serious and even stern expression on his face, as hot as the fire burning on the ground.
The branches made a crackling sound, and Merlin let go again: “But there is still a chance. Do you believe in overpowering a hundred skills?”
Merlin did not give Menachel time to answer, and asked himself: “Your body structure is very strange. The absorbed magic power will automatically be used to transform your body to strengthen your strength. Maybe in the few years of growth, you can really surpass Artoria.” Merlin glanced at Artoria who was approaching here, and suddenly the seriousness on his face disappeared: “So we are going out again this time.”
Menachel’s eyebrows jumped. He always felt that he seemed to have heard this sentence somewhere recently.
“Are you going to follow me this time, Menachel?”
“Merlin, what do you mean?” Artoria came over and placed the dragon meat cut from the dragon next to Merlin. A hint of hesitation appeared on the girl’s delicate face. She turned to Menachel, who seemed a little depressed, and asked tentatively: “Menachel, are you going to leave?”
Merlin sat down with his wooden stick, and his deep purple eyes showed inexplicable excitement in the firelight.
Menachel only said one word, but there was no follow-up
“I-“
“What! Menachel, you are leaving!” Kai also appeared at this time, but he heard this disastrous news as soon as he approached.
Doesn’t this mean that he will have to face Merlin’s teasing alone in the future?
Thinking of what happened before Menachel joined the team, Kai couldn’t help but shudder. He immediately slowed down his voice: “Menachel, actually you don’t need to leave because of inferiority complex. Although, really, I can just not ask about your physical condition when we quarrel in the future.”
“Kai.”
Menachel became expressionless again.
Looking at Kai’s sincere and sad expression of “I have made a lot of concessions”, Menachel suddenly felt that this face became nostalgic.
Thinking that this “friend” will leave him [forever] tonight.
Menachel couldn’t help but sincerely express his blessings:
“You are really going to die, right?”
“Huh? How can you talk like a mute?”
