“Whoa…” Farah mutters, almost tripping over the stack of open books I’ve piled near the doorway…and near the table…and near the sofa…and pretty much anywhere there was an open space.
I glance up from my place cross-legged on the living room floor. “Sorry.”
“It’s a maze of pages in here,” she says, tip-toeing through the books to make her way towards me.
“I can’t think of another way of finding out who this bad guy is,” I reply, the words followed by a heavy sigh and my shoulders sagging. “We don’t even know who his target is.”
Farah manages to find her way through the mountains of leather-backed books to fall into a sitting position beside me.
Her hand moves to cup my cheek.
My eyes wearily lift from the sepia pages to meet her much more enticing gaze.
“You’ll find it,” she says, then gives a bright smile. “We’ll find it.”
I groan. “No, this is my mess. I let him loose.”
“Your mess is my mess,” Farah replies with a grin. “You know that.” Her hand slides from my cheek to my neck, her fingers tracing the contours of it until her hand rests on my arm.
I let out a soft breath, half from exhaustion and half from enjoying the lingering touch.
“You look like you’re about to drop off right here,” she says.
I chuckle. “I am.”
She scoots closer, tucking me beneath her arm as much as possible. I instantly flop my head onto her chest.
The gentle rhythm of her heart beats against my ear, soothing me the instant I hear it.
“I promise I won’t tell the bad guy you took a nap,” she jokes, running her hand over my hair.
“Thanks…” I mumble, but the safety of her arms lulls me into a deep sleep before I get the chance to say more. I don’t even get a chance to see the way Farah gazes at me, a soft frown on her brow, capturing this moment to her memory as though afraid to lose it.

F may not be my favorite romance/route, but this blurb makes a compelling case otherwise! 😍
