Harry - Squib test chapter
🕑 Added 2021-11-29 21:41:41 +0000 UTCPlot: Harry is a squib yet Dumbledore insists on him going to Hogwarts, the wizarding world believes him to be weak, but soon Harry will show them how dangerous a squib can be. Harry/Astoria Greengrass pairing.
Scene 1:
"Are you serious?!" Professor Snape blurted out, staring at Dumbledore with pure disbelief. "How can we possibly let Potter attend Hogwarts?!"
"Well, I guess all we would have to do is simply let him board the train and walk through the entrance hall," Dumbledore said in a thoughtful voice. "well, we'd have to tell him how to and help him get his supplies, but that's about it as far as I'm aware."
"You know damn well what I mean!" Snape spat, glaring at him furiously. "He's a squib! Hogwarts doesn't have squibs!"
"I guess that you have forgotten about our caretaker..."
"As a student!" Snape interrupted. "We have never had a squib as a student! It's...it's unheard of!"
"I am aware of that, Severus," Dumbledore sighed. "Harry is indeed a squib, but fortunately enough he does still possess a small amount of magic. I am sure there are a few activities like flying on a broom to keep him entertained and classes that he can take where he does not have to rely on a wand, such as herbology and..."
"No, no," Snape spoke up quickly. "no, no! Don't say it! Don't you say it!"
"Potions." Dumbledore finished with a small smile.
"Damn it all to hell!" Snape cursed. "Why are you so insistent that the bloody brat comes here?!"
"I think you know exactly why," Dumbledore replied as he turned away from Snape and gazed out of the window. Harry Potter needed to come to Hogwarts, he needed to keep an eye on the boy and make sure that he was ready, ready to be the martyr that the wizarding world needed.
Scene 2:
"Stupid! Stupid prat!" Harry paused upon hearing those words and the furious tone in which they were said, he looked around the hallway and couldn't see anyone else. "Selfish...prick...bastard!" The curses continued, Harry blinked before following them to an empty classroom. He gently opened the door and saw a girl sitting on the floor with her knees hugged to her chest, he quickly recognized her as Astoria Greengrass, Daphne's little sister and girlfriend to one Draco 'I will tell my father about this because I'm a prick' Malfoy. Her beautiful blonde hair fell down to her shoulders, her eyes were not the same cold blue of her sisters. Her left eye, while blue, was a softer shade than her sisters, while her right eye was a light shade of green. It was actually thanks to her that Harry had looked up the word 'Heterochromia'.
She looked up and Harry could see that her eyes were now red with tears.
"Hey," Harry said awkwardly, standing in the doorway. "um...sorry...to interrupt...whatever this is. I just heard you cursing and...wanted to see what was happening."
"Damn it!" Astoria groaned. "I forgot to put up the silencing charms!"
"Well," Harry said as he walked into the room and closed the door behind him. "I would offer to do so but...last time I checked, I was still a squib."
"Oh yeah?" Astoria snorted as she put a silencing spell around the room. "When was the last time you checked?"
"Two minutes ago," Harry said, matter-of-factly. "anyway, are you alright? Do you want to talk or something?"
"I'm fine," Astoria said dismissively.
"You certainly look it," Harry replied in a voice that was a dry as the dessert.
"Thanks," Astoria shot him a small glare before letting out a deep sigh. "I'm upset because of Malfoy."
"Hey," Harry said as he sat down next to her. "if you ever want to complain about Malfoy then I am always here to listen." He told her with a grin
"I bet you say that to all the girls," Astoria smirked as she wiped her eyes with her hands.
"And the boys," Harry nodded. "and the animals, and the magical creatures, the regular creatures, the portraits, the ghosts..."
"Okay, I get it."
"And Peeves, can't forget him, the teachers as well..."
"I get it," Astoria repeated in a louder yet amused voice, earning a smile from Harry.
"So, if we're going to start insulting Malfoy then you can go first," Harry told her. "I've got a particularly lengthy rant starting with his hair, and I could write a ten-inch essay on just his hair."
Scene 3:
"Give up, you're surrounded!" One of the death eaters shouted, he turned around and blinked when he saw the person that they were hunting. "Are you kidding me?!" He laughed loudly along with the two death eaters next to him when he saw the person holding a bow and arrow. "I thought you were sending magically made arrows! Not using actual ones! Ha, even muggles don't use them anymore."
"Look, he only has one arrow left!" Another death eater laughed.
"One arrow is more than I need for you three." The figure aimed his bow at them and fired, the arrow soared through the air but descended quickly and landed in front of them, the arrowhead stuck in the floorboard.
"Ha! You missed!" The third death eater laughed with the others.
"Really?" The figure asked in a dry voice before rolling to the side and taking cover behind a wooden box, a second later the arrow exploded, sending all three death eaters off of their feet and causing them to land a couple of meters back just as another group of death eaters rushed into the room.
"We'll kill you!" One of them shouted.
"You'll try!" The figure shouted back. "You idiots just got here! As for me, I was here an hour ago, and I spent that hour preparing!" The figure yelled before rising up after pulling out one of his weapons from one of the various spots he had hidden them in. He let out a warrior's roar as he moved forwards while aiming his rune altered machine gun at the death eaters.

A.N: Hi guys, hope you liked the chapter.
Just want to remind you that the test chapter is not supposed to be a quality chapter, just basically a teaser.
This story will be focused a lot on how Harry deals with the horrible way that squibs are treated, there will be a few OC characters (Harry has had to learn from someone, after all). Harry will be able to do some magical things like use runes and broomsticks, basically anything that doesn't need a ton of magic, but he won't be able to do other stuff like magic (and he obviously won't be able to do wandless magic).
Now, if people want to change their vote on the poll then feel free to do so, but I'll also be releasing more test chapters for the other options. My vote at the moment is on the Spiderman option if that means anything to anyone.

While can't say the idea of squib Harry it's something I find interesting, the paring with the youngest Greengrass instead of the elder it's intriguing. While Harry + Daphne it's my personal favorite, closely followed by Luna or Susan, this looks very interesting. Plus I have always liked the idea that runes are to the magic around what coding is to a computer program. Slower, more detailed and not as popular as traditional magic casting, but with an infinite potential to affect and rewrite the reality of the world around.

I'm going to stick with my original choice. A young squib Harry forced to go to Hogwarts I can just picture the heaps of verbal abuse and indifference towards him. That's just not something I want to read at the moment.
