Widow's Vengenace chapter 5 - Practise

She landed softly on her feet, barely making a sound. It was only the years and years of training and experience that let her move as quietly and as effortlessly as she could, she had already disabled the security cameras on the outside of the building. She climbed up the top of a big green bin before she leaped towards a pipe that was a small distance away.
She climbed up the pipe, heading towards the open window, she got on the window frame and looked inside, only to nearly fall off when a body crashed into the wall next to her. The body slid off the floor and dropped onto the walkway below. She looked in the direction that the body had come from, it didn't take her long to see something that was very much out of the ordinary.
There were multiple hostiles on the floor, unmoving and most likely dead or at least severely injured. She saw one hostile who had his shin bone sticking out of his leg, while another had a rebar pierced through his mouth with one end sticking out of the left side of his face while the other end stuck out of the right side. There was one man who appeared to have been hanged upside down from his leg, blood poured down from that very same leg.
She spotted a few others who were scattered across the room with blood pouring out from them, their last expressions were fear.
It didn't take her long before she found the cause of all of these injuries and deaths, he was currently standing over one body, bending down and throwing punch after punch at the unconscious man under him. Natasha assumed that the victim was unconscious but it was likely that he could be dead given the amount of punches he was taking. The one throwing the punches was not dressed like a normal civilian.
He was dressed all in black, the only other noticeable colours was the silver of the metallic shin and forearm guards he was wearing. She couldn't see him from the front as his back was turned to her, he had a hood up and he was wearing a robe that went down to the back of his knees. Natasha climbed down from the window and silently landed on the walk way.
Though she was apparently not silent enough as the man in black turned around and looked at her, she couldn't see his face as it was covered in shadows. Something that was odd seeing as she should have been able to see him even with the hood up, there was more than enough light to let her see his face but she couldn't. And if that wasn't odd enough then you could add in the fact that she could see two glowing green orbs hanging in the shadows of the hood.
"I..." That was all she was able to get out of her mouth before what looked like a wooden stick shot into the strangers hand, a bright light shot out from the stick. She had to close her eyes but she managed to quickly get her gun into her hands and had fired a shot. Once the light down and she recovered she saw that the stranger was gone.

Natasha's eyes snapped open, she shook her head before she sat up and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. She let out a small yawn as she stretched, there was no way that she was going to go back to sleep now. She stood up and went to the bathroom, after that she went downstairs, she thought that she was the first one awake but apparently she wasn't.
She found Harry in the kitchen, he was frowning and his arms were crossed as he stared at the kitchen appliances like they were very difficult math problems.
"Harry," She spoke, causing him to realise that she had come down. "are you okay?" She asked.
"I...don't know how to use these." Harry said in an embarrassed voice as he gestured around the kitchen. "This is all different from the kitchen in the Dursley's house, the only thing I've worked out how to use is the microwave, but I don't know what everyone wants."
"Harry, you don't have to make breakfast for everyone." Natasha patiently replied as she moved over to where she knew the cereal boxes were.
"But...don't I have to...you know...'earn my keep'?" Harry asked, using the phrase that he had heard Uncle Vernon say so many times.
"No, Harry." Natasha said as she took out a box of chocolate cereal, not what she usually would eat but she figured that Harry would enjoy it. "You are not an adult; you don't have to earn your keep. Mum and Dad might give you a few chores to do but that'll be it. Remember what we told you about the Dursley's Harry, they shouldn't have been treating you like they had. And they shouldn't have been making you do so much work."
"I didn't mind." Harry fibbed. Natasha gave him a look that quite clearly showed how much she believed that.
"You should mind, Harry." Jess said as she came into the room, Harry looked surprised by her sudden appearance, Natasha wasn't though, she had heard her coming down the stairs. "Harry," Jess said as she leaned down in front of him. "you are far too young to look after an entire house by yourself."
"But I could look after the whole house by myself." Harry pointed out.
"Perhaps you could have, but you shouldn't have to, nor should you have," Jess calmly replied. "Tell me something, if there are four people in a house, two of which are adults, then who should be looking after the house?"
"I..." Harry was about to answer but paused, on the one hand he wanted to say that it should be him but on the other hand he learnt in school that most of the time it was the adults that ran the house.
"Harry, when you cook you could burn yourself." Jess continued speaking. "When you clean, then what happens if you get chemicals in your eyes? Who should be cleaning, you or your aunt and uncle who would know more about dangers and how to be careful?"
"I...them?" Harry guessed, hoping it was the right answer.
"Yes, well done, Harry." She smiled at him. "When you're older then you can clean as much as you want, but right now I'm limiting you to only a few chores. For example, you can clean your own room, help me with the dishes if you want and a few other small things. Matt has a job so he's the one who will bring in the money, I don't have a job so I'm the one who will look after the house. We do this so that you and Natasha and Clint can enjoy yourselves, when you're older then it'll be your turn to get a job or clean the house or both. Understand?" She asked.
"I think so." Harry eventually nodded, a thoughtful look on his face.
"Good, well in that case why don't you and Natasha go inside and watch TV while I make you both something a bit better than cereal?" She suggested as she took the cereal box from Natasha before she ushered both kids out of the room. "Fucking Dursley's." She said under her breath once the kids were out of hearing range. "If Matt doesn't deal with them then I bloody well will."
"Come on, Harry." Natasha said as the two sat down on a sofa. Natasha picked up a remote and turned the TV on. "What do you want to watch?" She asked.
"Um...I don't know." Harry shrugged, he never really watched much TV.
"Hmm, I know a show that you'll like." Natasha grinned as she began flipping through channels. "This is one of Clint's favourites." She told him before she found the right channel.
"Batman?" Harry asked.
"Yeah, this shows from the 1960s." She told him as it began playing. "I think it's really funny." She said
"Oh." Harry said as the intro began playing. It started with two people sliding down some poles and then cut to a cartoon version of Batman and Robin beating up bad guys. "Wow," Harry said once the intro had finished and it had shifted back to a regular people. "I..." Whatever Harry was about to say was cut off by the sound of running from above, Harry looked back and saw Clint running down the stairs like the hounds of hell were nipping at his feet.
Except Clint stopped halfway and jumped over the rails and landed on the floor before he rushed over to where Natasha and Harry was sitting, Clint's chest crashed into the back of the sofa as he stopped. He leaned his head over the sofa and glared down at Natasha who was rolling her eyes.
"You started watching it without me!" He hissed as if Natasha had committed the biggest act of betrayal possible. Natasha almost casually reached up and pressed a single finger against Clint's forehead before she pushed him back.
"He really likes the show." Natasha said in a dry voice, she watched as a smile came onto Harry's face, she mentally cheered at that.
"We only just started." Harry told Clint.
"Traitor." He softly glared at Natasha before he moved sat down next to Harry. "So, you ever watch this much?"
"Um...no...not really." Harry admitted. "The Dursley's didn't let me watch much TV."
"The Dursley's are stupid and ugly and fat...and stupid." Clint said as he shook his head before he turned his focus to the TV.
"He said stupid twice but he's not exactly wrong." Natasha said, Harry didn't respond beyond a small shrug, after all it wasn't like he disagreed with any of what was just said.
"Here we are." Jess said when she walked into the room with a full English breakfast and placed it down on the table in front of the kids.
"Food!" Clint grinned and reached for it, only for his hand to be slapped away by Jess.
"No," She told him. "this is for Harry. Next is Natasha and then you."
"Oh, Mum!" Clint whined.
"That's what you get for waking up after them." She told him.
"I...I think this is too much for me." Harry frowned as he looked at all the food in front of him, he most definitely did not eat that much in the morning.
"Well, just eat as much as you can, dear." Jess gently told him. "And if there's any leftovers after you're done then..."
"You can just toss it at Clint." Natasha finished for her.
"Not what I was going to say but that works." Jess replied.

Later after lunch Harry had left with Matt in order to go visit an opticians, the two returned later that day with Harry wearing a pair of black rectangle glasses, Harry had been amazed at how much better his vision had become by simply having some glasses that were actually brought for him. The difference felt like night and day.
"Aw, look at you." Jess cooed when she saw Harry. "You look so adorable!" She said.
"Um...thank you." Harry said, his cheeks blushing bright red.
"Mum, don't embarrass him." Natasha said, telling her off.
"Yeah, you do enough of that with us." Clint said as he gestured to himself and Natasha.
"Shush you." Jess said as she walked over to Harry, she leaned down and took a closer look. "You look so handsome!" She smiled, as she adjusted his glasses slightly.
"Come on, Harry." Natasha said in an amused voice as she grabbed his hand. "let's go upstairs." She said, deciding that she had better take Harry away from her mother before she causes Harry to explode, and at this point that was very much a possibility considering how red Harry's cheeks were getting.
"Wait for me, I'm coming up as well." Clint said before he followed Natasha and Harry upstairs. "So, how did it go?" Clint asked as they all entered his room.
"Well...the glasses lady didn't seem very happy." Harry frowned when they all sat down on the floor. "She asked me where I got my old glasses and when I told her she looked angry. At first I thought she was mad at me but then your dad said that she was mad at the Dursley's for not giving me proper glasses."
"These new glasses look much better on you." Natasha told him, wanting to move the conversation away from where it was heading. She could happily last at least another ten life times without wanting to talk about the Dursley's.
"Really?" Harry asked in a self-conscious voice as he reached up and adjusted them slightly.
"Yeah, they really do." Natasha nodded.
"Thank you. The lady asked if we wanted contact lenses but I said I didn't." Harry told her. "I don't want to put things in my eyes." He said, wrinkling his nose at the very thought, glasses were one thing but why would people want to put something in their eyes?
"Me neither, mate." Clint nodded as if Harry had just said something particularly smart.
"Hmm, well maybe one day you won't need contact lenses or glasses." Natasha said with a knowing look as her eyes briefly glanced up to his scar.

The next day Harry slowly rubbed the sleep out of his eyes as he woke up, he looked around at the guest bedroom he was in. It wasn't anything fancy if you asked the Dursley's but Harry honestly loved it. Though when you consider the fact that he slept in a cupboard for the last few year, then you'd remember that Harry's standards were lower than others.
After going to the bathroom Harry went downstairs, he was about to head into the kitchen but was stopped when he saw Natasha sitting in the living room and holding a book about pianos.
"Good morning." Harry said as he walked inside.
"Oh, good morning, Harry." Natasha smiled at him as she looked up from her book.
"Do you know how to play?" Harry asked her as he gestured to the book.
"A little bit." Natasha said in a modest voice. "There's a piano upstairs, if you want then I can teach you how to play it."
"I don't know if I'd be good at it." Harry frowned.
"That's why I'd teach you." Natasha smirked at him. "If you practise then you'll get good at it. We can learn together if you want." She added. "So, do you want to practise with me?" She asked in a hopeful voice.
"Um...yeah, if you want." Harry said after a few moments.
"Great!" Natasha beamed at him.
