I Have a Decision to Make...
🕑 Added 2020-11-27 12:35:48 +0000 UTCHello all. I hope all of my american friends here had a nice Thanksgiving day. I did.
The sim was going well, or so I thought.. I am on frame 5,139 or so of 7600 and the skin on her bicep was pulled so taut the bicep muscle started to pop through her skin. You can see it got stretched so much the textures on her bicep look large.
The problem is not because she grew so much. It is because the skin between her shoulder and bicep was getting sucked into her like.... Did you see Alien Resurrection? Anyway.. There was no way to foresee this kind of issue with doing prototype testing.
I think I may be able to fix this by essentially starting the simulation again, but on frame 4500 or so. The effect of the skin getting pulled in there happens slowly and I might be able to reach the end of the animation before I have to reset it again. Doing this will be a major operation and a real pain in the arse.
Another option would be to forget the simulated skin thing and sculpt her a new body using more traditional methods. I can keep all of the face and body animation but all of the time spend on modeling all of her internals will have been wasted. Such a shame. Parts of her look really amazing, especially her pecs.
The other day I was thinking that this whole approach is just far too time consuming.. It is not sustainable. Maybe one day if I get a faster computer it would work (or a heck of a lot more donors).
So yeah.. I have a big decision to make. Not very pleased right now.

I don't want to give anyone nightmares.

Just twist it into the narrative. Like her muscles are so big that are skin is ripping. ;)

It's not a render, it's a simulation.. Rendering comes after that. But it wasn't a minor issue.. Trust me.
Honestly I think you should just let the render continue and release it with the minor issue. I appreciate how much work you put in to new stuff, but don't let the perfect become the enemy of the good.

Ouch.. That pun. Maybe not I will try some things out and get back to you all.
