[EN]SHOWTIMExMONSTERS 2 Dev Letter [vol.45]
🕑 Added 2023-07-20 09:09:30 +0000 UTCHello, I'm Satoh.
The rainy season is over here and the heat has been on all cylinders lately.
Summer, the fourth summer since I started making this game, is beginning in earnest.
Thinking about it again, it has been a really long road, but the end of that road is finally in sight.
I will continue to work hard to keep up with the heat and continue my production.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
Recently, a small group of testers have been working hard to fix bugs and other problems through continuous test play.
I have played through the game many times myself to squash bugs, but I have found a number of bugs that I could not have found alone.
The game has a very large number of monsters, skills, and items,
so I again think it is important to make sure they are well prepared with the help of the testers.
In particular, this game is designed in such a way that you can only save in town, so I want to make sure that errors do not occur during exploration.
At the same time, I have been drawing images for mini-games, and I finally finished drawing pictures for Bouncing Slime (breakout) the other day.
I chose 10 monsters from the former game and drew them, so there are a total of 10 different stages to enjoy.
I also finished creating the images for the introduction to be used on the sales page.
I wanted to add a group picture of the characters like in the former game,
and although it is hard to draw a lot of characters, I tried my best to use the time to draw them.
There are still many other things that need to be created, but right now I am working on the illustrations that will be displayed on the game over screen.
I plan to add individual scenes when a player is defeated by a boss in an update as with the former game,
but in addition to that, I am thinking of preparing a small illustration of the main character and his partner that will be displayed at game over.
So, I am working on the parts I left out one at a time while they do the test play.
In this letter, I would like to introduce one new monster and the main artwork.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
This is one of the new monsters, Merman Captain.
He is the leader of the mermen I have been introducing to you for some time.
He is an unusual character in that he can wield both a sword and a gun.
This is the group picture I mentioned earlier.
In addition to the new characters, I also drew the characters from the former game.
(Although he is not in this illustration, the protagonist of the former game also appears in this game.)
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
This time, with sincere gratitude for you, supporters,
I drew a "Exploding Heat Special"-themed special illustration for you.
From the ghost monsters, this is Pumpkin Lantern.
This monster is a symbol of Halloween, but I thought the fireworks-like explosion would also be appropriate for summer.
Pumpkin Lantern is a monster that is unique in its self-destruction.
Many players may have been hit by this monster in the former game, especially in the extra dungeon.
He loves to surprise everyone by exploding loudly, and is a particularly naughty image among the mischievous ghost monsters.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
That's all for this letter.
I'll post vol.46 on around 2023/8/20.
The game is roughly complete and I am in the process of refining it as much as possible.
I am focusing on balancing the game, fixing bugs, correcting typos, and enhancing the mini-game stages and images throughout the game as much as possible.
The finishing touches are important for everything, so I consider this to be the high point of the project, and I will work hard to make it a great piece of work.
The summer season is about to begin. I hope you all stay cool and healthy and take care of the heat.
