[EN]SHOWTIMExMONSTERS 2 Dev Letter [vol.32]
🕑 Added 2022-06-20 09:05:06 +0000 UTCHello, I'm Satoh.
Spring has passed in the blink of an eye, and hot summer-like days are no longer unusual.
Once the gloomy rainy season is over, summer will be in full swing.
I am taking care of myself to avoid the heat and continue to work toward completion of the sequel.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
I've almost done the 5th stratum.
Once again, I had to think a lot about monster design, map creation, skill sets, event scenes, and many other aspects,
but I believe I have achieved a satisfactory level of completion.
As in the former game, the event scenes become progressively harder as the relationship with the partner deepens toward the end of the game,
so I designed the situations so that each of the fifth stratum would be the most exciting.
This time, you will explore the dungeon with your partner and they will also join you in battle,
so I hope that you will have more feelings for your chosen partner than you did in the former game.
The maps have been designed to be fresh and fun so that players will never get bored of exploring.
In order for players to enjoy the fun of exploration, each stratum has its own thematic mechanisms.
In the former game, the final stratum was designed to be a simple boss rush,
but this time I am planning to make the stratum a bit more voluminous, and there will be new monsters there as well.
First, I will draw the monsters in the final stratum, think about their skill sets, then make a map,
set them up as enemy monsters... and so on, working in the same manner as the previous ones.
There is still a lot of work that needs to be done to make it complete, such as creating mini-game stages, other content,
and a large number of costumes, but I will try to complete the main part first.
This time, I'd like to introduce two of the main characters' costumes and a new monster.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
In this letter, I will introduce costumes based on the motif of monsters, following on from the previous letter (vol. 28) on oriental costumes.
(Please refer to vol. 18 for information on the costume change system for partners.)
This is Eight's monster costume.
I chose the Killer Mantis costume for Eight, who is very fit.
The tight-fitting suit really accentuates his abs.
This is Reo's monster costume.
I chose the Ice Sword costume for Reo, who looks nice in the hood.
Leo often wears short pants costumes, so it may be rare to see him in a fully clothed outfit.
This is one of the new monsters, Dash Cheetah.
As the name suggests, this monster is based on the animal cheetah,
and was designed to be easy to move around in, like an athletics costume.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
This time, with sincere gratitude for you, supporters,
I drew a "Early Summer Special"-themed special illustration for you.
This is Python Snake from Forest Monsters.
It is the season when the temperature rises and the snakes, which have awakened from hibernation, seem to be in high spirits.
Python Snake is one of the Symbol Monsters that appeared early in the former game,
with a snakeskin hood and silver accessories that make it look a little badass, as snakes do.
The point is that it gradually becomes more and more vulnerable as it is wrecked.
Although I designed this monster early in the production process,
it was a monster that reminded me how fun it can be to express character by depicting the changes caused by clothing destruction.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
That's all for this letter.
I'll post vol.33 on around 2022/7/20.
The fifth stratum is finished, and the main part is in the final spurt toward completion.
As the heat continues to increase, I will continue to work at a steady pace while paying even more attention to my health.
I hope you are all in good health, and I wish you all the best.
