[EN]SHOWTIMExMONSTERS 2 Dev Letter [vol.24]
🕑 Added 2021-10-20 09:06:44 +0000 UTCHello, I'm Satoh.
Thank you for your warm support.
We are already in the midst of autumn. When I think that this year is coming to an end, I really feel how fast time flies.
This is the 24th letter, and it has been two full years since the first one.
I was able to complete the former game in two years.
But this game is going to take a while to complete as I am gradually increasing the time to work on each of the illustrations for monsters,
event scenes, map making, new systems etc. to improve the quality in order to make this game even better than the last one.
I am sorry to keep you waiting for so long, but I am able to continue the work itself steadily every day.
Please give me some more time, as I will surely make it a good game.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
This month I have been working on creating skills for the 4th stratum monsters.
It's very difficult to make each of them have their own character, while at the same time making them interesting as a game.
For this game, I asked the programmer to write scripts that would allow me to create skills with a wider range of functions than in the previous game,
and I'm working hard to make it so that players can enjoy the strategic aspects of the game even more.
While exploring various directions, I am satisfied that I was able to make the monsters in the fourth stratum have unique skillsets.
In addition to that, this time I took the time to finish creating all the "potential skills" for the buddy system of the previous monsters.
Buddy System is a new system that allows two monsters to exchange and learn the unique potential skills that each has.
(For details, please see vol.11 of the letter)
Although there is only one potential skill per monster, it is customizable in that it can be learned not for oneself, but for a partner of one's choice.
That's why it was especially difficult to land on just the right balance between characterization and game balance,
and I had to spend more time thinking about it than I thought I would.
All of the monsters in the game, including the previous and current ones, have potential skills,
so I hope you will enjoy simply coupling them together or finding strong combinations.
The fourth stratum will be completed once I make the enemy monsters, boss battles, events, and items, so it won't take too long.
Once that's done, I'll start designing the monsters for the 5th stratum.
In this letter, I would like to introduce two new monsters.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
This is one of the new monsters, Light Jellyfish.
I used the transparent body of the jellyfish as a dancer's costume to create a fluttering, floating feeling.
It is a highly exposed healer type monster.
This is another one of the new monsters, Sound Weaver.
It is a mechanical monster, an android that specializes in playing music.
It has a slightly mature design, and is a monster that is good at supporting its allies with music.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
This time, with sincere gratitude for you, supporters,
I drew a "Long night of fall"-themed special illustration for you.
This is Astaroth, a demonic monster.
He looks like a monster that would give me good dreams.
Astaroth is a demon who represents sloth, so the pajama design is based on the motif of sleep.
Originally, Astaroth is supposed to be astride a dragon, but in SxM, I put him on a stuffed dragon.
It's a devilishly cute design with a touch of mischievousness.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
That's all for this letter.
I'll post vol.25 on around 2021/11/20.
Two years have passed since the start of this project, and with your warm support, I feel that the results of my work are steadily accumulating.
I will continue to work diligently at my current pace.
Of course, I will continue to post letters every month as well, so please support me from now on too.
As autumn deepens, the temperature will be dropping rapidly, please keep warm and take care of yourselves.
