[EN]SHOWTIMExMONSTERS 2 Dev Letter [vol.20]
🕑 Added 2021-06-20 09:17:30 +0000 UTCHello, I'm Satoh.
Thank you very much for your support. Your support helps me to keep up with my creation activities.
Spring has come and gone in the blink of an eye and we have entered the rainy season in Japan.
It's a humid and uncomfortable time of year, but it's not a bad time to work indoors.
I've reached the halfway point in the production of SxM2. I'm working hard to complete it.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
The third stratum is now complete.
I thought it would be a good time to make some adjustments at the middle part of the game and this time, I spent some time working on balancing it.
I built some parties to include as many of the monsters added in 2 as possible, repeatedly fighting normal battles and bosses,
and using my own senses to balance their skills and stats so that players could get the most enjoyment out of them.
When adjusting the balance, it is better to have some sense of the strengths and weaknesses in my mind,
but when I draw monsters or event scenes, I inevitably lose my sense due to time lapse, so for example, when adjusting the third layer,
I play through the first two layers again to get a sense of the value of skills and damage in my mind before starting.
Right now, I'm working on the design of the monsters in the fourth stratum, as well as working on one of the mini-games.
I've been thinking about a mini-game that would be unique to this game, and I've asked the programmer to realize it.
As soon as it takes shape, I will introduce it here.
In this letter, I would like to introduce the new system and a new monster.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
This is one of the new systems, "Costume Catalog".
This is a new system that allows you to easily view the costumes, underwear, and decorative equipment that you have acquired so far.
Since the first game, I have received requests to make it easier to check costumes, so I decided to implement this feature.
This feature was also created with the help of the programmer.
When you move the cursor, the appearance of the equipment you have selected will be reflected.
You can also see the broken picture with the left and right keys.
When you select and set an outfit in each item, it will be marked with ★ and will be reflected when you go to another category.
If you set your favorite clothes in multiple categories, you can try out different combinations.
(This will only be reflected in Costume Catalog, the actual equipment will not be changed)
Of course, you can also check the broken state of the equipments you set.
This time, decorative equipment will also be available, so I hope you will enjoy changing the main character's costume even more.
This is one of the new monsters, Tri Dango.
Like the previously introduced Matcha Anmitsu, this monster has two races: Japanese + Sweets.
From the image of Japanese dumplings, I tried to create a design with the image of an old Japanese sweet parlor's shopkeeper.
He is a monster that fights boldly with two hammers.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
This time, with sincere gratitude for you, supporters,
I drew a "Green Summer"-themed special illustration for you.
This is "UtuBozu" from the plant monsters.
I think it's the perfect monster for this refreshing season.
Nepenthes lures insects and dissolves them with the digestive juices in its body.
It's very unique to be a plant that eats insects.
This monster fights with a vine bow, based on the word combination of Utubo(nepenthes) + Utu(shoot) + bow + Bouzu(boy).
It was designed to look like a bowman based on the vine, and I like it a lot.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
That's all for this letter.
I'll post vol.21 on around 2021/7/20.
This is my 20th letter to you.
I would like to thank you again for your continuous support.
The more the game takes shape, the more I want you to play it as soon as possible,
but I will continue to focus on the sequel so that it will be a better game than the last one.
The hot season is coming again this year, so please take care of your health.

Thank you very much! I'm considering their names carefully to express their characteristics :)
You put so much effort into even the names of the monsters. Amazing work.
