[EN]SHOWTIMExMONSTERS 2 Dev Letter [vol.19]
🕑 Added 2021-05-20 09:02:48 +0000 UTCHello, I'm Satoh.
Thank you very much for your continuous support.
The cherry blossom season has come to an end and I am gradually beginning to feel the warmth of early summer.
The world is still in chaos, but I hope that the world will return to normal as soon as possible.
As always, I continue to work on this project, wishing for such things.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
I've finished setting up the monsters, events, and scenes for the third stratum, and now all I have to do is adjust the balance.
The most important part of setting up monsters is to create symbol monsters and boss monsters.
Of course it is important to make the monsters not too strong, not too weak,
but also to make sure that the battles have a sense of character for each monster.
This is because I think that if I can make the character's personality and characteristics as palpable when confronted as an enemy as when an ally,
I can convey the character's appeal more deeply.
It's a way of conveying characterization that is only possible in RPGs.
After some tweaking and test-playing, I'm going to start working on the monsters for the fourth stratum.
The fourth stratum will have a different theme than the first, so I'm also looking forward to seeing what kind of monsters I can come up with.
In this letter, I'd like to introduce two new costumes for the main characters and a new monster.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
This is Toma's uniform costume.
I tried to design an atmosphere that would make him look smart and like an honor student.
It looks more like a foreign school outfit than a Japanese school uniform.
This is Ios's uniform costume.
Rather than a realistic school uniform,
Ios's costume is designed to look like a vivid design that would appear in a fantasy school.
This is one of the new monsters, Repair Wrench.
He is a healer monster that repairs mechanical monsters.
I tried to design him in a steampunk-like atmosphere, with a combination of mechanical and elegant.
The mecha monsters are powered by sweets, so he is carrying a sugar cube for emergency supply.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
This time, with sincere gratitude for you, supporters,
I drew a "Early Summer"-themed special illustration for you.
This is Cream Sorcerer from the candy monsters.
I think it's the perfect monster for this refreshing season.
As you can see, the design is based on the motif of cream soda.
In my mind, cream soda has an image of being enjoyed in a retro coffee shop,
so I tried to give the costume a retro feel as well.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
That's all for this letter.
I'll post vol.20 on around 2021/6/20.
When the third stratum is finished, I think I'll finally have passed the halfway point of the whole process.
With this situation that has been going on for the last year and this year, it seems like it all passed in a blink of an eye, but I've been racking my brains to get it done.
With your warm support, I have been able to continue my work to this point.
Once again, thank you for all your support.
I'm going to brace myself and take care of my health as I face the remaining half of the road.
Please take care of yourselves as well.

Thank you as always! I'm glad to hear you like him :) It will take a long time to complete, but as you say, I'm very happy that I have been able to continue working on this without a break. I'll keep work hard from now on too.
Thank you for your continued work, Satoh! The sugar cubes as an emergency supply is a really cool idea! I also really like the costume and posing on Repair Wrench. He seems quite confident. With the third stratum almost done, the game is now really beginning to take form, huh. Like climbing a mountain, it must feel great to look back at what you achieved already. As always, I look forward to your next letter!
