[EN]SHOWTIMExMONSTERS 2 Dev Letter [vol.16]
🕑 Added 2021-02-20 09:04:50 +0000 UTCHello, I'm Satoh.
It's already been a month this year, and it's now February.
It's the middle of winter, the new virus is still around, and it's still cold, but I'm still working patiently every day.
I can't wait for a warm spring.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
I've finished designing the monsters for the third layer and am now working on illustrations for the event scenes and the skillsets for the new monsters.
Since all the monsters from the first game will also appear in SxM2,
in the early stages of development I thought, "If I add too many new monsters, will the number of monsters become too large?" so I was planning to add only about 60 monsters,
but there are many motifs I want to draw, and I think it would be more interesting to have a lot of new monsters in the game, so I think I will end up adding about 80-100 monsters.
The third stratum will be a dungeon that combines the themes from the first game with new theme,
and I' m creating it to be a place where players can enjoy both cuteness and coolness.
Since the main focus of the game is to explore dungeons, I put a lot of effort into the map design.
I want to combine it with the atmosphere of the monsters so that players can feel their character more.
In this letter, I'll introduce you two new monsters.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
This is one of the new monsters, Matcha Anmitsu.
This monster is a part of both the Sweets and Japanese races.
In this game, there will be some monsters with multiple races, so I think the range of party formation will become even wider.
This is another one of the new monsters, Cool Mint.
I designed him to be a bowman with an ice element,
inspired by the chocolate-mint motif and the cool feeling of mint.
In this game, bowguns are one-handed, and if a monster can equip a shield, he can equip a shield at the same time.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
This time, with sincere gratitude for you, supporters,
I drew a "Full-blown Winter"-themed special illustration for you.
This is Blue Knight from the ice monsters.
He may look timid, but he's actually a powerful monster with a high attack power.
It's designed as a counterpart to the defensive Red Knight.
Although his personality is reserved, he seems to be able to show his strength in various situations.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
That's all for this letter.
I'll post vol.17 on around 2021/3/20.
The days of uncertainty continue, but I will continue to accumulate results as I wait for spring.
I hope you all will take care of yourselves and stay healthy.

Thank you! I'm glad to hear you like them. Yes, as that sweets has modern and nostalgic atmosphere, I choose Meiji era costume :)
Wow, Cool Mint is 'Cool' in so many ways. I really like this monster already! Matcha Anmitsu looks like he is from the Meiji period. The clothing design works really well! Is that as a twist from the original 4th stratum? The original seemed to be more of a feudal period. Thank you for taking the effort to add in so many new monsters!
