[EN]SHOWTIMExMONSTERS 2 Dev Letter [vol.13]
🕑 Added 2020-11-20 09:05:12 +0000 UTCHello, I'm Satoh.
It's getting cold at night and winter is coming.
I'm trying to stay warm to keep myself from getting sick.
2020 is almost over, and this year has been a year full of SHOWTIMExMONSTERS 2 for me.
Next year will probably be like that again, but I'm steadily getting closer to completion, so I'm going to keep working on it.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
I finished making the skill set for the monsters of the second stratum.
It's a very difficult task to keep the skills balanced and unique, and it's a different agony than drawing an illustration.
When I can't come up with ideas, I even walk around the room in circles with my head in my hands.
There are a lot of monsters in SxM, but basically each monster does not have its own line of dialogue or special scene.
The only thing that shows the characteristics of the monsters are the illustrations and the short notes in the monster dictionary.
However, I believe that players will have a strong emotional attachment to the monsters
depending on the impression they give when you face them as enemies or when you fight along them as allies.
That's a way of expressing characterization, which is possible because it's a game that allows the player to have an active experience.
So I think it's very important to make the skill set unique.
SxM 2 also has buddy skills. Those are traded for other monsters to learn, which makes them more difficult to balance.
But I think I've come up with something pretty unique and nice for the monsters of the 1st and the 2nd stratums.
Now I just need to create an event scene to complete the second stratum, so I want to start designing the third stratum monsters soon.
In this letter, I will continue to introduce the main characters' swimsuits and a new monster.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
Here's Eight in his swimsuit.
He is wearing a belt over his short boxers to attach a sword.
It is a simple swimsuit that shows off his toned body.
This is Reo in his swimsuit.
Remove the hood and open the ears fully for a slightly different look.
He is wearing a sleeveless hoodie and a swimsuit that is easy to move around in.
This is Toma in his swimsuit.
He's a teacher, so I tried to give him a physical education teacher look with his jersey and swimsuit.
He also has an emergency potion on his leg.
This is one of the new monsters, Star Shooter.
This monster is based on a starfish motif, and it has the feel of a western-style ninja.
He fights by throwing a starfish-shaped shuriken, and is a flashy monster, even though he is a ninja.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
This time, with sincere gratitude for you, supporters,
I drew a "Late Halloween"-themed special illustration for you.
Mummy from the ghost monsters.
It's a monster that only wears bandages, so its buttocks are exposed when it's wrecked.
I tried to make an illustration that shows off his smooth buttocks.
As I wrote when I drew the vampire special illustration,
Mummy is also based on a Halloween illustration I drew a long time ago.

The monster version has lost the eye highlights and has a more undead look.
He seems to be cool and emotionless, but he can be quite emotional.
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
That's all for this letter.
I'll post vol.14 on around 2020/12/20.
It is getting colder and the virus seems to be getting more active.
Please stay warm and take care of yourself.

Thank you! I hope you enjoy the sea stratum with their swimwear :) Maybe I put some dialogs about some info of the new dungeon ideas in L2D. Please look forward to see the new stratums' monsters too.
The main characters all look great in their swimsuits! There is plenty of personality in their choice of swimwear, not to mention plenty to look at. With the second stratum nearly complete, I'm really curious what the third stratum will be like. Perhaps you mentioned it somewhere before, but if so I forgot, haha.
