Map Set 18 Gold
🕑 Added 2022-05-17 06:42:45 +0000 UTCHere's our latest map set with two battlemaps!
The first is the Searing Conflex, where a lava flow has cut through the terrain tunneling under a few natural land bridges. Patches of molten rock still remain on the surface, creating some hazardous terrain that can cause damage to those without sufficient heat protection or it could possibly heal those that are attuned to fire. Ambushers with magic or ranged weaponry can use the high ground to their advantage. Flying creatures can pick up foes and drop them into the lava. There are a few rock formations that can provide cover but maneuvering towards them can be a dangerous proposition.
Encounter Ideas:
- The Eternal Patrol - An Iron Golem that heals itself by walking over the molten rocks or wading through the lava itself wanders the area following the commands of its magic-using master. It attacks anybody who dares harvest the fire-flower plants that its master uses in his or her mystical concoctions.
- Fire Giants - These giants aren't fond of interlopers and can use their size and fire immunity to grapple and drag foes through lava, or just throw molten rocks at their opponents for extra fire damage.
- A Blade of Obsidian - It is rumored a magic sword is submerged under the lava itself, are the adventurer's clever enough to retrieve it without upsetting the local fire elementals?
The second is Southgate, a small community just outside the walls of a city or castle with a number of stalls and shops that can sufficiently resupply a typical adventuring party. They might even offer upgraded armor and weaponry from the blacksmith or barbarian leatherworkers. Southgate is always bustling with activity as there are plenty of folk to interact with, gathering here to either enter the city or trading with those waiting in line. The scrivener might have some scrolls or spellbooks useful to the casters in the party, or they could be willing to purchase any spares the party might've found during their adventures. Fancy new outfits can be purchased at the tailor's workshop, and there's a small chance the tailor has some enchanted clothing or footwear for customers with excess coin. A warded treasure is hidden in a secret room in the northeastern house, perhaps the old armaments of a retired warrior, or maybe it's the storeroom of the local thieves' guild.
Encounter Ideas:
- Smuggling Contraband - While waiting in line to enter the city a local approaches the party asking them to sneak an illegal curative herb to her grandmother inside the city without the guards noticing.
- HIdden Thief - One of the tent-folk has stolen the blacksmith's favorite hammer. Try to figure out who has it without upsetting the wrong people.
- Tax Season - The tax collector has arrived and it's time for the shopkeeps to pay up, but business has been slow and the toy-maker can't afford to pay. Can the adventurer's help her out? Or maybe they help the taxman instead.
Includes grid and non-grid versions of:
- Searing Conflex (40x60)
- Southgate (50x51)
