Release the horse photo!

Soph Emm

I think mikes reaction to the horse fucker picture is the biggest wheeze laugh I’ve ever heard from him 😂

Maz Hedgehog

Cause if it's similar, then I wonder if the deradicalisation methods taken with those groups could be replicated/updated at all?

Maz Hedgehog

I wonder how the jan 6 rioters demographics compare to membership of the kkk/segregationists?

Dylan

Joseph Goobles.

Lorien Leonard

Can we see the picture of the guy with the horse?

George Katherine Westermann Lewis

Y'all convinced me to read this awful book lol IBCK is eroding y'all definition of "good" Idk how y'all do it. Keep up the awesome work

Luiza

Please do Factfulness by Hans Rosling pls pls

I love this episode, and I loved this book! I want to offer that I don’t think Klein is arguing that the left, or Wolf’s friends, should have embraced her more to stop her from getting embraced by the far right. I don’t think she’s arguing that there’s anything any individual could or should have done—I think she’s just exploring the narrative and psychology that led Wolf to where she is. And so for that reason I appreciate her empathy for Wolf, because it acknowledges her humanity, but she certainly doesn’t let her off the hook for the wild shit she’s said and done. Love the pod, the horse stuff is gold :)

I came here to say this. I also read and bought a copy of Doppelganger because of the teaser for this as well, so Klein owes you guys some kickbacks.

Jasmine

Been a fan since the beginning but this was the episode that finally got me to subscribe to your patreon. So good. And yes let’s see the horse photo!! Give the people what they want.

Erik Larson

I'd like to say I'd listen to a podcast of Peter bitching about his life, but that's probably not true.

UniqueJargon

Just finished reading Klein’s book, and it was one of the best books I’ve read in years. Thanks for the rec, y’all, and please consider covering more “actually good” books!

Erik Larson

I think what caused Wolf to fall down the conspiracy hole was the consumption of fluoridated water.

Sofía Rauschert

I'm so glad they didn't cut the horse-fucking bit

Kassiopea_a

well same ! I can't believe that they left it in the preview and cut just before the tweets 🤣🤣🤣

Zak

It was the horse-fucker preview that finally pushed me to subscribe. Well played.

Rob Dukes a.k.a. Jurgan

Agreed, I am not making monthly payments to not see horse-fuckery.

Carlotta Lohaus

I really, really want the horse photo!!! Pls, please, pretty please share it with us

Eleanor

That fade out was extremely meta

justine

The way Michael says, softly 'Sometimes?...' after asking himself the question: '...does my penis feel grief?' just absolutely KILLS ME. I don't know why.

Amanda

i almost had a serious accident with hot coffee in the kitchen because of the horsefucking story, thanks a lot you guys

taijitu

I thought it was fine. It could have been more rigorous for sure but the main debunkings in the book are broadly correct and backed up with research and data if you're familiar with them outside the book. Hurricane katrina, for instance, is a very famous example of the news media talking about how the (majority black) locals were doing killings and rapes and looting when absolutely none of that was happening.

Suggestion for future episode: you'd do The People In The Netherlands a great favor by taking Rutger Bregman down a notch - I believe his most widely known/sold book was Humankind

Katie Capone

This is my new favorite episode 💖

Stephanie Gooding

We demand the horse photos!

Nathan Hall

Love the bit at the end. Content moderation has absolutely worked to keep terrible ideas out of the discourse. We do it with ISIS, why aren't we doing it for Nazis?

Suzie Birdsell

Please share the horse photo please

Sarah Mills

The part where Michael was like "[Klein]'s just being way too nice..." felt especially dire after his heroic attempt at a good faith read of the "vagina grief" assertion

Heather

When it comes to Wolf’s dissertation, it looks like it was in English Lit, so her advisor and probably everyone on her committee (who would have to sign off on her work) would have been Lit scholars and not historians. That’s a really different perspective to bring to a piece of writing, and honestly part of why the lack of much real interdisciplinary work in the humanities is, imho, a real problem. (Of course I am a historian so there’s that bias here—I feel like all my colleagues and I had a sort of profound combo when it happened: on the one hand, feeling for her in that moment to the point of physical cringing, and on the other hand intense schadenfreude over seeing someone get owned hard for not running her historical ideas by a relevant historian.)

Sara Martinez

That horse joke was undeniably the funniest joke I've ever heard. I've replayed it 6 times and can't stop laughing
