Mary nearly started crying, but he asked her not to as it would ruin her makeup. Mary began to ask him why she would do this to her, and that's when the man started laughing at her, telling her this was all her fault.
He told her it was her fault for cheating on him in college so many times, and then when she got caught she made up lies about him to the dean to get him expelled. Not only did he lose the girl he loved, he lost his chance to a degree, all while she hooked up with guys and got hers.
