Swapped surgeries
🕑 Added 2023-09-18 00:14:33 +0000 UTCToday I’m in the hospital preparing to have surgery on my throat. I’m getting a tonsillectomy due to them swelling up and making it hard to breathe. It also makes it nearly impossible for me to speak.
So after months of suffering from pain, turning meals into liquids, and not uttering a word, I'm here to have it fixed. I was instructed to change into a hospital gown and lead to a room to lay down on a bed.
The nurse filled out a form and attached it to a clipboard, then attached the clipboard to the end of the bed I was on. I was told to relax, and that a nurse would come get me when it was time for my surgery.
Not long after that nurse left, another person entered the room in a hospital gown and lay on the bed next to mine. “Heya roomie, what’re you in for?” The girl asked me, but I couldn’t reply so I pointed at my throat and rubbed it.
“Oh can’t speak huh, thats rough, I guess that's probably why you're here. Well, I hope they’re able to fix it for you.” She says as she smiles at me. She jumps up onto her bed and makes herself comfortable.
“My things mostly plastic surgery, but once it’s done I’ll be much happier. I just need to have a little useless part of my body removed.” I was a little creeped out, was she having an organ removed? Why was she that excited about it?
I mean, who gets excited about losing a part of their body? Perhaps whatever it is must be causing her a lot of pain. The nurse from before returning and filled out her chart then attached it to her bed.
After that, she wished us both well in our surgeries and told us a new nurse would be in soon to take her place since her shift ended soon. The girl and I both waved the nurse goodbye and continued to relax in our beds.
The girl in the bed next to me ended up falling asleep, and I just sat there watching television. At some point somebody let their kids run loose in the hospital and they made their way to our room.
They ran around the room, knocked things over grabbed our charts, and pretended to be doctors. Eventually, their father found them and scolded them, telling them to clean everything up, and then he apologized to me for the trouble.
I did my best to communicate to him that it was alright, and then the family left the room, making sure to close the door so no one else who wasn’t supposed to be there entered. After that, I once again relaxed.
After some time a new nurse returns, says hello to me, and starts checking our charts. After she checked both she wheeled the girl out of the room, then after ten minutes returned to wheel me out of the room.
They brought me to another room and placed an oxygen mask on me. “Alright Miss Margery, we’re about to administer the anesthesia. You’ll go to sleep and wake up a brand new woman, and don’t worry you’re in good hands here.”
I was confused, what was he talking about? I tried to ask, but I still couldn’t speak. They turned on the anesthesia and I quickly fell asleep. It felt like I was asleep for a long time, then suddenly I felt like I was being shaken awake.
“What's going on?” I manage to say with a weakened voice. “Oh good you woke up.” I see a doctor looking down at me, looking quite annoyed. “Alright, Miss, I mean Jack, there's a lot of news I need to inform you about.”
The doctor rubs his face. “The first thing you should know is that you’ve been in a medically induced coma for nearly three months while you recovered from your surgeries.” I looked at the doctor confused, but I was still waking up.
“Three months, that's a long time for a tonsillectomy, did something go wrong?” The doctor sighs. “Yes and no. The tonsillectomy was completed without a problem, the problem actually comes from before that.”
“The day you went under for your surgery, a mixup occurred due to your chart getting mixed up. That day instead of getting the tonsillectomy, you instead received several other surgeries, including plastic surgery.”
“What? What do you mean? What kind of surgery did I receive?” The doctor pulls up a chart. “According to this list, facial reconstruction, hair transplant, breast implants, and Vaginoplasty, so quite a lot.”
“Breasts implants? Are you saying I have breasts now?” The doctor nods his head and points at my chest. “I believe the size picked out by the person who was supposed to receive them was D-cups.”
I placed my hands on them, they were so big, the biggest I’ve ever felt, and they were stuck to me. “Why did you give me breast implants I’m a guy!” I yelled at the doctor suddenly. “Well, that's a bit complicated.”
“What you received is sex reassignment surgery, It was meant to be done on a transgender woman, but again the mixup caused the procedure to be done on you.” “What so that means, that my dick is..”
“Yup, that's what Vaginoplasty is. As of right now, you're pretty much a full-fledged woman.” I looked down, I was angry and confused. “As of right now, we can’t reverse anything, You just recently recovered from them, and your body needs time to adjust.”
My head snapped towards the doctor. “What! So what’re you saying, that I have to live like this? How long am I supposed to do that?” “Well at least a year, but who knows by then you might want to stay like this.”
“This is ridiculous, this has to be illegal!” the doctor sighed. “I’m not really sure, but it’s definitely a lawsuit. In fact, the hospital is already talking to a lawyer that was assigned to you already. I’m sure you’ll hear from him soon.”
“Oh well, that's good. But what am I supposed to do now?” “Rest up for the day, tomorrow you’ll be free to leave. I’ll have one of the nurses bring you some clothes so you don’t have to walk around naked.”
The doctor then left the room. I jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom. It’s not like I didn’t believe the doctor, but I had to see it for myself. I turned the light on and stood next to the mirror to see myself.
I looked mostly the same, my face was slightly smaller and more feminine, my Adam's apple was gone, and my hair was longer and less messy. I guess someone has been brushing it while I was in the coma.
I had rather large breasts, but that's what happens when you shove massive silicone balls under your skin. I removed my hospital gown and looked at my crotch. They really did it, they cut my dick off and turned me into a woman.
Instead of my dick and balls, I had a vagina. “This is so unreal, how does something like this happen? The doctor didn’t even seem to care all that much either. Does he not realize they just ruined my life?”
I put the gown back on and returned to my bed. I didn’t have a whole lot to do, so I mostly just thought about how my life was going to be for the next year. I can wear pretty normal clothes, but I’d probably have to buy a bunch of bras for these damn melons.
I’m sure that’ll be uncomfortable and embarrassing. I wonder what my friends and family will say when they see me. I ended up passing out after worrying all night, and I was woken up by a female nurse.
“Hello, I heard about your situation, I’m so sorry that happened. I brought some clothes for you.” I get out of bed and take the clothes. “Thank you.” the nurse smiles at me. “I know you’re upset, but let me tell you, you’re a very beautiful woman.”
“Than.. thanks,” I said nervously. I don’t know why, but hearing that felt good. “No problem, and hey, by the time this year is over, you might actually like all of this.” The nurse patted me on the back and left the room.
“Yeah, I’m not sure about that.” I place the clothes on the bed and sort through them. Among the clothes were, a very large bra, a small pair of panties, a dress and a pair of flats. “Is this really what they want me to walk around in?”
“I suppose it’s only until I get home.” I throw the clothes on and head out of the room to check myself out of the hospital. As I’m walking to the apartment I’m getting all kinds of looks from the men around me.
“Good, they’re all staring at me, I can’t handle it.” I eventually made my way to my house, which was quite dusty and looked a bit abandoned and made my way to my bed. I tore off the clothes and grabbed something more comfortable from my closet.
When the dress hit the floor a card fell out of it. I walked over and picked it up. It was a card saying to call if you have any questions, especially woman-related questions, signed by your nurse Betty.
“That’s kind of nice. I’ll definitely have a lot of questions. I have to spend a year like this, so there's a whole lot of things I’ll need to know. Hell, I’m not entirely sure how to piss right anymore. Perhaps I should call her and talk to her a bit.”

Well, if you ask me, by and large I liked this story... (there are, of course, exactly two small details; this is purely my perception and you shouldn’t rely on me, after all, I’m not everything)

I’ll say this... both my mother and I work in a hospital (I’m still just an orderly in the outpatient surgery department, and my mother is a pathologist) so medicine is a family activity for us... but I digress, so I work in surgery and besides “serous problems” ( even in the text I don’t want to pronounce THIS word in the context of robots) I was always afraid that one day some patient would be confused with us... in this context there is nothing else, but for example, we often perform eye surgeries and what would happen if, for example, a person’s left one was confused and the right eye is scary to even imagine...

This was an idea, that I've always kind of dreamed about happening to me. I'm not sure though that I like how I wrote it, so I might redo it or make another version, but let me know what you think.
