So, some of you are connected to me on my social media accounts and got the update yesterday but not everyone is, so here it is:
My hip has a labral tear and AVN of the femoral head. Potentially some other stuff but we need more tests. Basically, my blood supply to my bone has been compromised due to the tear in my cartilage and I’m experiencing bone necrosis. So. Serious stuff. I’m booked in to see an excellent specialist on October 22nd and am in good hands. I will need some form of major surgery in my future, and my guess is a brand new hip but I am not the expert so it’s just a guess.
Pain wise, I have good days and bad days. Bad days are followed by days of chronic exhaustion, so its been a real struggle to exist lately.
What I would like to do with this page in the meantime is this:
I’d like to be available for tips and assistance with what you are working on. Whether that is a specific move, a choreography, performance technique, or act development, I am making myself available, whatever your donation level is. I am unable to dance for work probably until sometime next year, so I have to be adaptable and do what is accessible to me.
I might do the occasional live movement class, but it’s harder for me to commit when I don’t know when I will have good/bad days. But I am thinking about videos, perhaps fifteen minute focus videos for you to follow along to on your own time.
For tips and support, you are welcome to send me videos and I’ll give feedback, or we can do fifteen minutes of live video once a week (per student) - just make sure you’re warmed up and prepared beforehand so you don’t risk injury!
If this isn’t your jam, I totally get it, and I hope to see you again once I am back up and running with a functional hip. I appreciate the support you’ve offered thus far, so very much. If you want to stick around and donate to just help me with mh cost of living while I’m going through surgery and healing but don’t want tailored instruction, that is also clearly super cool and appreciated. It’s been quite a time dealing with this, and I hope to get things moving and healing swiftly.
