Sneak Peek - The Witch Wood

Hello everyone, and happy Sneak Peek Thursday! I've been doing a slew of building maps lately, so I wanted to "touch grass," so to speak, and create a new nature map. It's been a while since I created a haunted forest map, and with October approaching, I thought I would create a forest map that foreshadows an upcoming hag-themed map I have planned for the month.
This map will be a 30x40 map in a dead forest with heavy fog (fog optional, of course). I will create a "witch" version, which will have hanging symbols from the trees and petrified corpses that the bark has partially absorbed. In the center of the map will be a massive gnarled tree stump with monstrous claw marks raked across the front.
For my VTT crowd, I will also separate the tree tops as their own layer, and the talented Talanor will create a levels version to place the tokens under the tree branches.
I'll have the full release ready to go by Monday!

Yes! My goal is to re-do all my CoS maps like this. Currently, nearly done with the core maps of Vallaki, and I'll be redoing Krezk, Van Richten's Tower, Berez, The Winery, etc. I want to spend some time redoing Castle Ravenloft, but I think what I may end up doing is a gothic castle of my own design. My goal would be to build something that will functionally work as Ravenloft (such as adding the chapel, throne room, spire with the heart of sorrows, etc) but sort of reimagine it in my own vision and add a bit more realism to the castle layout and design. Such as adding a proper ballroom, latrines, guest quarters, etc. This allows me to build a "Ravenloft adjacent" map, also while avoiding any complications with IP restrictions. I don't have a timeline for this as I will need to do a lot of research and planning, but that's certainly in the long-term goals!

Andy, I realize you may not want to reveal this info, but I’m curious if you are re-doing any further COS maps in this style? Dare I ask if you’d ever consider doing castle ravenloft? Your current one (Ravenloft) is great, but this style is so finely detailed, players continue to remark on the maps art (unprompted, so then I immediately plug your Patreon)
