Chapter 107: Eating
🕑 Added 2025-09-23 02:41:36 +0000 UTC Then I remembered the braised pig's trotters in the pressure cooker. It was already past fifteen o'clock and a fragrant aroma was coming out. I quickly turned off the fire. After thinking about it, I called Qin Xinmei and told her that I was having dinner at Nalan Xi's house.
However, Qin Xinmei almost scolded me, saying that the dishes were ready, but fortunately they were not fried. Qin Xinmei was not a talkative person. Apart from being a little annoyed with my behavior, she didn't say much. She just told Chen Siting and I to come back early after dinner at Nalan Xi's house.
Chen Siting came out of the bathroom, glanced at me without saying a word, and squatted beside the cage, teasing the puppy. "I'm back, let's cook and eat." Nalan Xi also just came back, carrying a bag of things with fruit and drinks. She took a bottle of soy sauce from the bag and walked into the kitchen to start cooking.
"Sister Xi, can you really cook?" I stood beside Nalan Xi, feeling a little confused. After all, she had said before that she never cooked.
Nalan Xi was scrubbing a pot in the sink. She glanced at me indifferently. After questioning me, she took the brush and scrubbed the pot fiercely as if to vent her anger. She was obviously unhappy: "What are you doing with me?"
I knew Nalan Xi couldn't cook, so I asked with some trepidation, "Do you want help?"
"No need, just watch from the side." Nalan Xi's charming face showed some confidence. After washing the pot, she put it on the stove and turned on the fire with a "hiss".
An hour later, I watched Nalan Xi finish cooking the food very skillfully, and it looked pretty good. I was a little surprised, and while helping to bring the dish to the table outside, I asked her how she learned to cook.
When Nalan Xi was cooking, I saw that the cut side dishes were a little crooked and didn't look very good, but it was obvious that he had practiced knife skills, just not for long.
After all the dishes were served, Chen Siting and I sat at the dining table. Nalan Xi glanced at me and said casually, "I went to learn cooking from my aunt for a few days. You should try it."
I nodded, picked up a piece of greens with my chopsticks, took a bite and found it a little bland, then picked up a piece of lean pig's trotter and took a bite. It immediately felt too strong and spicy, but also very good. Seeing that I didn't look disgusted, Nalan Xi said calmly, "Chen Qing, Si Ting, you two should eat more. Don't let this be my first time cooking. I put a lot of thought into it."
Chen Siting laughed and said, "Sister Xi, I won't be polite then."
Half an hour later, after finishing the meal, it was already past eight o'clock.
Qin Xinmei called again and asked when Chen Siting and I would go back.
While cleaning up the dishes, Nalan Xi said, "You two can go back first. I'll wash the dishes myself."
"Sister Xi, it's not too late for me to go back after I help you wash the dishes." I felt that there was no rush to go back. I just patted my butt and left after the meal, so as to avoid Nalan Xi thinking about me and hating me in her heart. If she wanted to come and eat for free next time, it would be difficult for her to do so.
Chen Siting originally wanted to sit on the sofa and play with her cell phone, but when she saw Nalan Xi and I busying ourselves standing together, she hurried over to help.
After washing the dishes, Nalan Xi kicked me and urged Chen Siting and me to go home quickly.
On the way back with Chen Siting, the Korean beauty turned her head away, looked out the window, and remained silent. It seemed that she couldn't get over the photo issue.
On the way, I couldn't help but lie: "Sister, that photo thing was actually a misunderstanding."
Chen Siting turned her head, her thin, curved eyebrows almost knitted into a straight line, and her innocent face said a little excitedly: "Shut up, I won't listen."
Seeing Chen Siting's near-furious expression, I felt a bit annoyed. This Korean beauty, usually playful and lively, had become incredibly irritable. When the photo incident came up, she was like a bomb ready to explode. I decided to stop talking about the photo, figuring I'd wait a couple of days or see if she felt better, and then try to coax her a little and see if I could get over it.
When I got home, it was already past eight o'clock. Qin Xinmei was sitting on the sofa with a book in her hand. When she saw me and Chen Siting, her cold face relaxed.
My aunt Chen Qianqing was also sitting on the sofa opposite, playing with her mobile phone. She had just been in Anhai City for two days and didn't have many friends here. She stayed at home all the time and rarely went out.
"Mom, aunt, I'm back." After seeing Qin Xinmei and aunt, Chen Siting's pretty face was filled with smiles. She sat down next to Qin Xinmei and called them mom and aunt very sweetly.
I sat next to Chen Qianqing and couldn't help but stare at Chen Siting. Not long ago, her behavior in the car was completely different from now.
Qin Xinmei caressed Chen Siting's head lovingly and said with a soft smile, "We've been wandering around for a long time today. Go take a shower and get some rest early."
"Mom, I'll wash later. It's still early, let's play some games first." Chen Siting smiled sweetly, then kicked off her slippers, crossed her legs, and took out her mobile phone to play games.
"You play games all day long. Be careful, it's bad for your eyes. Control yourself." Qin Xinmei nodded Chen Siting's head, her cold face showing some displeasure.
Chen Siting raised her head, stuck out her tongue and said, "Mom, I know. Don't worry. I'll just play for half an hour and then go take a shower."
Chen Qianqing glanced at Chen Siting, then turned to me and asked, "Are you and Siting full? There are still some dishes. Do you want me to heat them up so you can eat some more?"
I hurriedly said, "Aunt, you don't need to heat up the food. My sister and I have already eaten and are very full." Chen Qianqing nodded without saying a word. She stood up from the sofa and walked to the second floor, apparently to take a shower.
