The moral of the story is "Don't trust crabs". It's a highly specific lesson, but still a very important one to learn. Crabs are jerks.

Chris Coppit

Imagine he's walking on the beach picking crabs and Step, step, step, "Hello human I-" CRUNCH "Oh, another crab. They're lavender now too! Well, tastes the same. Diana might like this one. Too bad its crushed."

Starfish

Dark and twisted but good story.

Sammie Auburn

I'm reading this as a metaphor for AI... Because this is exactly what's happening to us.

My initial interpretation is that the crab can represent Rainbow Capitalism, or capitalism in general. It is brought by an industry that killed most of the town. It appears quietly, promising something wonderful if you feed it. We feed it ourselves. Someday we will be rich. Some day the worry will stop. Some day we will see something Wonderful. It wears the color Lavender, long associated with queer identity. Target and banks and Smirnoff all wearing rainbow colors. Give us your fleshhours in the form of money, something Wonderful will happen. Then when we’ve given all we have, we see the Wonder was always just for them. We fed them and the very moment they are able they will eat us. Target kisses the ring of the latest idiot clad in gold who promises to reward them for it. I know this fable suggests that the man is indeed eaten the next day. But Adam didn’t give us that answer, did he? Tomorrow the crab will be strong, it will find us and eat us if we let it. But NOW it is fragile. It is fattened and confident and it is asleep, molting. Vulnerable. Soft-shelled, despite its size. Target lost billions when they tried to eat us. It’s a good start. I choose to believe the Man returns that evening with a cleaver and feasts all the next week.
