I think garps comment about him being slow and old (old can't argue) but garp seems to expect more of himself like in the episode with galaxy impact after landing and saying he's not satisfied. He's just an overachiever, and we need to realize he is still insanely fast.

I’m on Jay D. Legend’s side for Garp. Whitebeard sick wrecked Akainu but Akainu got back up. Garp injured the way he was and still did that shit come on now. If they were both not sick or jumped One vs One Kol what ya got? He’s Slow and Old not their Primes. Doesn’t mean they can’t potentially still wreck the Youngins. Didn’t you scale Old Roger if he was alive over Shanks and put Sengoku over the Main OG MC Luffy’s Grandpa?!! What?!!
