To be real I think Netflix saw or heard about “Revenge Tokyo” and just ran with it lol, they saw how popular the Baki anime was when it returned back in 2018-2019 and were like “oh shit, this Baki show makin us a lot of money right? And those prison guys were like the stars of the show right? And they’re scheduled to come back according to this side story thing right? Alright, bet, let’s squeeze this shit in the next season and get these fuckers hyped so they’ll keep subscribing to see the prisoners return” pretty messed up if you think about it, they probably didn’t even bother to ask Itagaki if he had any plans to incorporate or reference any of these characters in the future of his story, which he didn’t, I mean just because Netflix decided to adapt it doesn’t mean Itagaki has incentive to to bring them back in any capacity, which he doesn’t, even if the events of “Revenge Tokyo” were considered canon and all the prisoners got all those major buffs I still don’t think it’s enough to compensate for the massive power gap between them and the current cast of Baki not even close unfortunately or at least not enough to be considered relevant, characters like Baki, Katsumi, Jack, Hanayama, etc. have gotten 100x stronger than they were during the Prisoner arc and there have been several characters that have debuted since then that can be considered astronomically stronger than them like Pickle obviously for example, I bet Smoking Joe the guy Retsu Kaioh fought against at the end of his boxing arc would probably give them all a hard time, hell even Che/Jun Guevara probably has a few of them gapped and Oliva was already handling most if not all of them of them by himself imagine what he’d do to them now, Kaku Kaioh would literally one shot each one of them low-diff, and that’s not even mentioning any characters in “BakiDou” or “Baki-Dou”, the only prisoners that I think would actually be somewhat realative to current Baki characters even when assuming they’ve all been buffed would be Dorian and maybe Spec (assuming he’s alive) and even then the only characters I could see them maybe having a high-diff fight with are like Doppo and Shibukawa (the old masters) and even then they’d still win everybody else mid-low diff, it’s funny when I first read that arc in the manga or when the anime first came out I thought they were all relative to Yujiro’s level, when I started to catch up to the manga I quickly realized they were never on his level back then and they definitely are nowhere near his level now currently in the story and I’m actually really glad that they didn’t skip over the part in the Baki vs. Yujiro fight in the anime we’re Yujiro talks about them because I realize now after seeing it again why I thought they were relative in the first place, it’s because they all shared that mentality of being at the top your game and seeking out the best and strongest to quell or satiate your boredom from being undefeated and the best of the best, very Saitama-esque I can do nothing but respect it, however I do gotta say while during there arc the prisoners were unquestionably studly and unquestionably phenomenal considering Baki standards now and days they are also unquestionably a tad bit overrated lol, regardless I look forward to potentially being proven wrong in the manga and the “Prisoner arc” as a whole was undoubtably top 5 in the whole series maybe even top 3!

Alright I can’t take it anymore KOL, the Prisoners are not coming back, they were never meant to come back, that one episode that you saw at the the end of the Ali jr. fight was a non-canon adaptation of a couple 1-shot manga called “Revenge Tokyo” that were published back in 2018 to commemorate the return of the Baki anime 5 in total with each one focusing on a different prisoner, none of them are canon to the main story, there is a slight possibility that if any of them show up in the current manga that it solidifies the events of those 1-shot’s but until then they should be considered a “what-if story” since they directly contradict the canon of the main on-going manga, Yanagi and Spec are both dead in the manga I don’t know it was stated in the anime but it was was explicitly stated in the manga Hanayama crushed and ripped apart Spec’s throat with his Vice grip at the end of there fight and Yanagi had his spinal cord snapped along with his jaw shattered when Yujiro one-shoted his ass, the other prisoners are alive but they haven’t been in the main story since there arc with the exception of Dorian who briefly appeared during the Raitai Tournament arc, there’s also an ongoing spin-off manga that came out very recently which follows Sikorsky and Gaia (for some reason, lol) although I’m not sure of its canonicity it’s worth noting that Itagaki (the creator of Baki) does consider most spin-off manga to be apart of and canon to his main story specifically citing “Baki Gaiden: Kenjin” (spin-off about Doppo’s past adventures) when referencing them, the reason the “revenge Tokyo” manga isn’t considered canon is because again it messes with the main time-line of the story and despite the fact that it’s already fucked up in certain ways most of the other spin-off manga stay within the confines of said timeline so therefore they can be considered canon, although despite the fact that it’s a “what-if story” some of what was shown in the 1-shot’s can be considered canon or relevant in the story, to be clear Spec and Yanagi are both suppose to be dead in the story but if either of them show up in the manga then we can assume that what they were up to in “Revenge Tokyo” = them being stronger, Dorian hasn’t been seen since the Raitai so we can assume he’s still back at the Bailin Temple squatting or doing some other crazy training but we don’t know if he’s still in his child-like “candy” state (most likely) either way he’s likely getting stronger, Doyle’s been MIA in both the main story and spin-off’s since he got re-captured with the exception of flashbacks and a few characters mentioning him he’s likely still locked up and it’s unknown if he deafened himself along with him being blinded and the the end of the Prisoner arc if so knowing “Baki” he likely also got massive buffs from doing that or maybe he did some other crazy shit and busted out and that’s why we haven’t seen him but again we don’t know, and Sikorsky barely showed up after being pretty much forgotten about all these years in the spin-off that came out at the end of last year but hasn’t been mentioned in any capacity in the main story besides Yujiro referring to the prisoners as a whole during his whole I want to taste defeat/I am the pinnacle speech during his and Baki’s fight further more to my knowledge there hasn’t been any reference to that crazy “sleeping upside down” grip-training he was doing in his 1-shot but we can still presume that’s what he was doin however I’m pretty sure it was Gaia who either bailed or busted him out to help him (Gaia) out with some nonsense and remember the canonicity of the spin-off itself is up in the air, so in conclusion as it stands the events of “Revenge Tokyo” are non-canon however certain aspects or even some 1-shots as a whole could be solidified or de-solidified depending on if any of these characters show up in the current manga “Baki: Rahen” I highly and sincerely doubt Spec and Yanagi are gonna be making any future appearances but the other 3 (Sikorsky, Doyle, and Dorian) pulling up is definitely within the realm of possibility and even tho I think it would be extremely hyped to see it happen I also know that it is unfortunately very unlikely to happen.

The Timeline of Baki and the possible Revenge Tokyo arc is confusing due it was a Timeskip after Raitai. When Doyle was visited, it was mentioned that it was 1,5 years ago when Doyle raptured his eardrums. Meaning that timeskip as AFTER the current manga. Baki should be 20 years old.
