A show that runs 1 Cour runs for 3 months, 4-Cour a full year. A season is one continuous run of episodes. Attack on Titan Season 1 for example, is 24 episodes- That's considered two Cours but it's one season. Bleach is the same but their Cours aren't broadcasted continuously because (I think) the production isn't capable of that.
