Bandit Hideout (alternatively overrun by spiders) [40x30]
🕑 Added 2020-12-12 17:01:41 +0000 UTCToday I have a small dungeon with a variation for you:
First I will describe the bandit hideout with a few ideas for its use. Then I have a little story for you about how this hiding place became a habitat for bloodthirsty spiders.
Credit for the used asset packs goes to Essendi, Synecdoche, Crosshead and the Apprentice of Aule.
The bandit hideout
The hideout has several rooms:
The entrance: The entrance should be monitored by several people at all times. (The playing cards and bottles indicate that the guards are not taking their job too seriously)
(To the south) The chest room: The bandits have placed a trap here, which they recovered from an old ruin. Who can be lured through the chest? A simple tripwire at the exit could take even the cautious by surprise.
(In my game the chest will once have contained a powerful magical weapon. But now its magic is almost completely extinguished, which is why the bandits simply fastened a bell inside, which warns them if someone opens the chest)
(From there to the east) The pantry where you might catch a very hungry bandit plundering the supplies
(From there to the east) The bandits' bedroom
(Let's jump to the north-west) The forge: Here a beefy man is busy improving the inferior weapons and traps of the bandits. (In a fight he will try to throw people into the glowing coal)
(Let's go now to the central room) The prison cell: The large boxes are cages which may contain one or the other prisoner
(Now to the large room in the north-east) The bandit leader's room: This is where the leader lives, plans his raids, celebrates with his people, etc.
The Transformation
It's been a long day ... We robbed a strange temple and killed the priests who lived there and now I just want to sleep.
I am a simple bandit and I move closer to the fire we lit in our cave, desiring to drive away the cold. Just before I close my eyes to finally fall asleep, I hear strange noises in my back. Annoyed, I turn to my buddy lying there to make with an evil look clear that he should be quiet. My whole body freezes when I see him.
As pale as death, he writhes out of his blanket and tries to get up. Spasms twitch his face and blood runs from his nose as he is brought to his knees. I want to scream but no sound wants to come out of my throat.
My friend is shaking. Blood runs from his eyes as he begins to choke and a torrent of blood spills onto the floor. I'm finally starting to scream.
Immediately the cave comes to life. My companions awake and take up their weapons. Someone comes running over but I don't get anything specific. Frozen, I look at my friend as he looks into my eyes and with seemingly immortal slowness something wanders from bottom to top through his throat and then reaches his mouth. I can hardly breathe. Long hairy legs open his lips and slide out of him.
A member of our group draws his sword to ram it right through the mouth of my friend. But he's too slow. The thing jumps off at unbelievable speed and lands on the face of our group member. Blood splatters in my face which finally gives me control of my body back. I jump up and look panicly for help. But other members of our group are kneeling on the floor and blood is running out of their mouths. I suppress a choke and rush to the exit. I hear screams behind me.
I walk past the prison rooms but do not waste any thoughts on the good ransom that they are worth, but just hope that any pursuer will come to them first.
Tears run down my face as I rush through the rooms and finally see the exit. I am trembling badly and feel my heart pound. Then I fall to the ground. I feel my body tearing as I crawl towards the exit.
I look up and see the starry sky as something breaks out of my back and slowly leaves my body.
