Yes it’s exactly that. Since I record the microphone audio separately from the screen recording I have no way of syncing up the audio, so I rely on a reflective surface to time up the screen recording with the camera footage. Hope this makes sense :)

I hope you don't mind if I ask a random question for research? What's the reason for holding up your phone as you begin the show? I notice you angle it to make sure you have the screen reflected, so I figure it's some kind of behind the scenes editing thing. Is it your version of Mosco's clapboard to sync video and sound? (This really is for research. I'm writing a book about youtube reactors)

The blackpowder merchant was pure fanservice for the people that saw the original campaing. He's a character called Viktor, an npc the DM Matthew Mercer used to sell blackpowder to Percy but became a fan-favorite. In Halloween one year, Mercer cosplayed as Viktor and was really fun ^^
