Maybe this watch-along will change my opinion, but I really hated how forced the humor in Kyoukai no Kanata felt, almost like the comic relief was just shoehorned in.

My take on the "I wish you would die" line is that if he were a normal human he would actually be able to die, so she's wishing he were a regular human
