Walt has delusions of grandeur. Because his home life is bad, he thinks he can become a empire maker like Gus. And yes Todd is another form of psycotic or sociopath.
Justin
As Jesse is leaving the lab Walt is whistling a hymn called 'Lily of the Valley'. Walt's "Empire Business" is even a called back to 0206 when Walt brings up Gretchen's empire business during their discord with each other. 0508 has 0206 references as well.
