The Slavin

Can't wait to see how the dynamic switches up now that he has Beouf on his side. Not to mention how he will act.

I have been thinking about the possibility of Maturosis being real, I've mentioned in other chapter comments that I was almost waiting for a stress response from Clark during the past few months. By that I mean his body reacting physically to constant stress. I just kept focusing on him having to adjust with all the hate and big emotions, but it's possible his "stress response" was him pooping his pants in a work meeting after a lifetime of trying to be "big". It's a lot like his big outburst with "auntie" Jessica where she told him he doesn't have to pretend anymore. Clark just thinks she missed the point, but I said back then that it might have been more insightful than Clark realized. It's only even more to the point with Clark saying in his melt down with Melony: he kept saying "this is me" and that he wasn't just a Little acting out because of a label. I've been through events where constant stress caused physical harm to me so it's easy to see something like that happening.

It could also imply that he may have "graduated" Melony's class and is still living with his Mommy Janet. Perhaps seeing her less than he does now that he no longer "needs" her class.

This story has been one big emotional roller coaster! I love the characters and it would sometimes make me feel a bit down to read them at each other's throats so this is such a welcome relief to read! I can't wait to see where this goes and I really wonder how it ends, especially with how Clark leaves a message for Melony in this book/memoir he's writing. Great work as always Pers!

That's what I've been thinking since Cassie may very well be dead or adopted by now. However, with Clark saying "if Melony is reading this" it definitely implies that he doesn't hook up with Janet and got away.

The end of Part 8 seems to wind up the second stage of this story, which I imagine to be the bulk of it, actually. Clark has finally had a breakthrough, both for himself and for Melony. He's at least a step closer to regaining control of his life, which has long been hinted at but now, with that final aside to a hypothetical Melony, seems undeniably to be where this is heading. Part 9, I'm guessing, will explore how to bridge the gap back to something like normalcy, while Part 10—which I am guessing to be the last one mostly because I have a thing about round numbers—will take us forward into his new life, whatever form it might take. (We have just been told that Melony is not to be part of it, but we don't know what *will*.) A thought I just had: might Clark's memoir serve as a way to prove to the Bigs that Maturosis is a fabrication? Might he, to some extent, effect real change? The author LittleFallenPrincess did something of that kind with a character in one story, but that was a book written by a Big after she fell in love with a Little. Which leads to another thought: could that happen with Clark and Janet? Hmmm...

Productive conversation. I do wonder if any of this translates to the other kids. As far as a case by case basis. I potentially see potty training in the future or would not be surprised if it was at least discussed. I look forward to to part 9!

Well, over 100 chapters in an I feel like we are just getting to a new section of the story. We have had hyper adult Clark who was always on guard, cheeky bratty Clark trying to make everyone around him miserable, and now we might get to see just.... Clark. This has always been in the back of my mind, that maturosis might be the result of years of pressure on a little to be a perfect Little adult. They crack and fall into a state childhood they were denied. No more worries about how they are holding themselves and who is walking down the street. Years of paranoia making them breakdown.

Now there is the sign of a good educator. She took a step back, reevaluated, and came up with a plan that would actually work instead of just relying on "tried-and-true" methods. And with just a little legitimate compassion and understanding, she managed to undo months of tension and start charting a course forward.

Congratulations Clark. You won. Man who'd have thought you MIGHT get better results from a little if you treat them like people. Fascinating! Careful though Clark, even if its out of genuine love that they're doing this, it's still an approach to get you to accept maturosis. But hey, after 70 chapters of confrontation and tension and outright hatred, it's nice to get something "nice" again. Can't wait for that to be smashed in the next installment I'm sure.

I've been in limited internet/privacy the past few weeks but managed to catch the three previous chapters and now this one. This is a great direction for this to go for Clark, and maybe there is some peace out there for him. That being said, the last bit makes me sure that his remaining with her is clearly not a longterm thing. Looking forward to seeing where you go with part 9! 🙂

While I'm still waiting for the downside to all this, it's good to know that there really looks to be genuine improvements for Clark.

This may sound weird but I love the name of usbox instead of YouTube. Great chapter by the way.
