Hello, everyone. It’s been hectic the past two weeks, last week we went for an eye checkup and it turns out she has an eye disease called keratoconus and she needs surgery. In short, this week has been also quite busy for her and since I still didn’t get assets, I couldn’t work on the new content either. This also means she’ll be receiving surgery in a few months and we might need to take a break for a month.
Anyway enough about us. For the sake of managing this project at a large scale better, I’ve been importing lots of data into JSON format, also I’m slowly implementing a tag system(which was introduced with GM2.3) in our systems which is a huge convenience especially for Kaan to manage sound assets. I had lots of time to test and polish the new gathering system and I also fixed the issue with skin slots, though this comes with another problem: Since we don’t want to animate the regular outfits(which I usually refer to as skins), we change use the outfits equipped in armor slots instead in combat, so skins don’t have to have any combat animations. In games current scope, adding their animations wouldn’t be too hard but since we are planning adding a lot more armors with combat update, we separated outfits into two types to avoid this excessive workload.
With the new gathering mechanics, players will be swinging their weapon while walking around to gather different types of materials, but they won’t be able to if they have an outfit equipped in a skin slot. To solve these issues, I’m planning on automatically switching to armor when the player leaves a safe area like a village or town, Grimshear for example.
Since I imported everything in JSON format, old save files won’t work but I'll try to add an option to import your save file into the new version, at least your inventory and stats but probably not quests/bounties but I’ll share debug commands to edit those and add it to debugging section of how to play panel.
By the way, I’m planning to open polls after each or several updates. If you have any suggestions or requests about polls, please let me know.
