🕑 Added 2018-04-18 19:53:20 +0000 UTC Started playing Starbound again, and had to make a Floran this time. They're soooo adorable with how they eat pretty much anything and anyone, and always mention wanting to do so.Named her Caramel since they seem to think pretty simply about names and most don't even refer to themselves as their name, so caramel = good = me.
Also she doesn't have iris', her eyes are insect-like and the iris is just light bouncing back at the viewer (like praying mantis eyes), so she'll always look like she's looking at you, but really she's seeing everything in front of her.

And of course some headcanon anatomy things! With no nose airway they wouldn't have a throat arch, and their windpipe wouldn't have to evolve to match it, so I gave 'em openings for air right behind their tongue! That way it allows the front of the neck to expand a tiny bit if they need to eat something that's kind of a mouthful, when they swallow it's just a straight tube since lung openings collapse into the walls, and it still allows 'em to talk/breath just fine.
Also her stomach can expand to fit MORE MEAT!

Well Starbound at launch honestly wasn't SUUUPER good, but now that it's been a while there's actually a lot of nice systems, though mostly focused on building and customization. There's story and stuff but it seems like it's just background while you have fun explorin. I wanna make an entire town of Florans though 8T They're so cute, GUH I was fine with the Starbound launch though since I'd basically done everything I'd wanted in Terraria, ahaha

Starbound is one of those games I regret never picking up. I've played hundreds of hours of Terraria with my brother, but for some reason never even really considered buying Starbound. I may have been bitter since they basically announced Starbound by cancelling Terraria development, which they eventually backtracked on, but time has eroded those memories. A few minutes on the wiki, though, and I see the potential of these Florans! Very nice. And that bit about the eyes is fascinating!
