I see a lot of people in the comments here saying Alex is a psychopath, and tbh I totally understand where he’s coming from. I’m not sure if he has autism as well as ADHD, but it’s common for people who are neurodivergent to experience empathy differently. It doesn’t mean they don’t care about other people or are cold and mean. I’m ND (diagnosed ADHD and waiting for my autism assessment) and I resonated so much with his answers.

The big five personality traits are one of the most reproducible psychological traits and have practical significance as they show really good predictive value. What JP has done is taken this big five scale which had good psychometric properties and fucked it up by arbitrarily cutting it down and changing the wording of some items. Don’t know how he got away with selling a shittier version of a good test that was already widely available for free.

To be fair to the test, this is actually a thing in psychology right now, called the "OCEAN" model or "Big-five" model, So there actually is a really big sample size! But yeah it's total bullshit to make people pay for that like it's something special/not easily accessible.

Meyers-Briggs is completely bullshit. People give that one way too much credit. For this test, Peterson just made a cut down version of the OCEAN big 5 traits test, which is at least the best personality measurement system we have so far, for what it's worth. Of course it's meaningless in this format, having been cut down. This is just a way for Peterson the grifter to profit

Came to say the same. The OCEAN is also probably the best personality test we have so far. It's mostly just for researching broad trends in human behavior, but people in the pop psych world treat any and all personality tests like horoscopes that actually work, which they aren't.

Yes, it is just a paywalled BIG-5 test. Out of all personality tests the Big-5 is the most robust, reliable and valid test. It is definitely not created by J.P and the questions are not written by him either, they are pretty standard.

The test itself pretty much has nothing to do with Peterson, it's the five factor model does actually have a ton of data inside of personality psychology, usually it's a 300 item questionnaire. It gets a lot of warranted criticism in psychology for being limited in scope and methodological issues. Peterson just chopped it down to 100 questions and put a pay wall on it.
