Does it need to lean more into the show design or is this fine?

It's just the camera angle, not necessarily a POV shot.

It looks pretty faithful to the show design already. It's kinda strange seeing her with half lided eyes (that's something I usually associate with fanart of adult Pacifica) but that's merely a facial expression. I'd only caution you to remember that Wendy does NOT wear lipstick when you color it in. Unrelated to the character design, but it was a bit jarring to see the camera looking *down on Wendy when she's usually shown from the twin's perspective. I'm guessing Dipper had a growth spirt in the last five years?
