It's always been on the back burner for months and months, with commissions and other projects taking priority.
But I'd really like to sketch out the first 8 pages and try sending it out as a proposal. So here are pages 1-4.

The first girl is part of a cold opening in which she goes missing. Her disappearance acts as the catalyst for the story. After the main characters discover she's missing, they go looking for her, leading to the plot. She's not either of the two characters on page four. The two characters are a brother and sister who are trying to track down the missing people in their hometown.

It was intentional, but it doesn't have the same meaning. Besides being a fan of the Sherlock Holmes stories, the intent of the letter is so it will be found later on. It provides a clue that will lead to a person of interest.
