Funny that you mention Rick and Morty and the Roswell episode of Futurama, both were inspired by this. RIck and Morty started off as a parody short called Doc and Mharty.

I do know that they recast the love interest of Marty McFly in the second movie Rick and Morty 100% got their inspiration by this movie

Fun fact: from the co-creator Bob Gale Marty and Doc became friends because Marty was curious. Everyone said Doc was a dangerous lunatic, so teenage Marty broke into his lab… thought the place was awesome, and Doc loved that someone finally accepted him. Both of them were the black sheep in their respective environments. Doc gave Marty a part-time job to help with experiments, tend to the lab, tend to the dog, etc. And that’s the origin of their relationship.

My mom got me to watch it too. Became one of my all time favorite movies actually my all time favorite trilogy. I recently have all three movies on prime video and it never fails to keep me entertained

So many great memories. I remember that every time Back to the Future was on TV, I’d watch it with my mom. Years later, for my birthday, she bought me the Blu-ray DVDs, and I was so happy. I watched them + the movie the mask almost every night after that.
