I think the only thing you have to know going into next season is that Doof had a whole story arc over in Milo Murphy's Law that takes place between season 4 and 5. It doesn't matter much, but they do occasionally reference it. Also Milo Murphy's Law is shit, so you're not missing much by skipping it.

Are you guys planning on watching Milo Murphy’s Law before Season 5? It canonically happens before Phineas and Ferb Season 5 and has a lot of connections with the show. Same creator and everything. It’s only 2 seasons. Weird Al Yankovic voices the titular main character, and Sabrina Carpenter voices another main character.
