Status Update
New Artist
Barely Working has had an artist change. Our new artist is BiteBox64. After some contemplation, we have decided to change Candace's appearance to match BiteBox's style. Candace is much curvier or THICCer than her previous look and I'm hoping everyone will be okay with that. Changing artists was also the reason for our big delay this year. I'm hoping things go much more smoothly going forward. Previous art will be updated in the future, we are focusing on creating another level first.
Candace's outfit and hair design has been changed for this level only. We wanted Candace to have her hair down and look a little bit fancier than her default look. You can expect her cute, upward-facing ponytail to remain.
Level 2 (3)? Can I play for free?
The Executive Presentation is level 3. We are releasing this level in the wrong order. Level 2 will be the Warehouse Level, but due to the artist change and communication issues, I had BiteBox finish this level instead of the warehouse one.
I am planning on releasing level 1 and 2 for free. Since this is technically level 3, it will be gated through a Patreon subscription. The next level will be the warehouse level and it will be free for everyone.
Candace's Facial Expression + Level Design
One concern that people mentioned is that they think Candace lost her "freeuse" vibe in this new level. They attribute this concern to the artist change. That is not the case. The main fetish for this game is freeuse. For this presentation level, Candace is putting on a show. She is right in front of 4 executive managers and is trying her best to do her presentation and please them. Candace would not be "doing her own thing" in this level, like she was in the first level. Candace would be smiling and getting the managers to like her. Imagine her as a stripper working in a club while the guys watch her.
The freeuse vibe is not gone, it has simply shifted for this level only and will be different in each level. For example, in the warehouse level the guys will be more aggressive with her. I imagine Candace's facial expressions in that level will be much different.
More Outfits
As we develop the warehouse level, we will be creating more outfits for the executive presentation level. If you are unaware, changing Candace's outfit changes the entire level. The dialogue is different when you change her outfit. I highly recommend playing the other outfits (especially the goth one) if you have not yet.
Outfits are also my way of implementing difficulty. I want default outfits to be "easy mode" while the other outfits can be more difficult. If you have played the goth outfit level, you will have noticed that I purposely try to mess the player up and waste their time. It is very fun 🤭
Cheat Menu
I have been asked many times to add a cheat menu. It will be available in the next mini-update. If you have any ideas on how you'd like to cheat, please let me know.
Popularity
Barely Working is tremendously popular. Because of that, I get way more comments asking about when the next update will be. For my sanity, I won't be replying to all of those types of comments, but I will do my best to provide more status updates. Like I said, this year might have sucked for development, but it should be smoother going forward.
Conclusion
Thank you for being patient with us. I hope you guys enjoy the new level. I'm looking forward to releasing more. Also, Queen's Brothel fans, sorry for the delay. We'll have something for ya soon.

A good cheat could be working while you're in fuck mode, so the bar keeps filling while you fuck. Also some kind of berserk mode where fucking is much quick. And also one where it's guy after guy after guy so you have no break for working

This was a great update, it feels like an improvement in every direction over the first level. I liked how certain decisions seemed to influence the progression of the story. The new artwork was well drawn and engaging. Loved the addition of the gallery. Just in general a well done update. A suggestion for a possible future level would be an all woman level. Where Candace has to service the woman executives/co-workers. She would try to slowly win over the female executives that seem to hate concept but in the end can see the benefits. It could also provide a fun contrast so the levels don't feel all the same. But i know this is easier said than done so it's just a suggestion. Great game, I'm excited for future updates.

Originally I was pretty indifferent to Barely Working. But once you started adding the alternate outfits and playing around with the mechanics a bit more I've become a believer. And I agree, I definitely recommend the Goth outfit. It's a really good showcase.
