So, a couple things here. She's targeting the whales. Cuz I'm sorry, but I've seen rich people drop insane amounts of money for games. When you've got a million people vying for the same stuff, one of them is likely going to be rich enough to pay for an advantage. Next, for professional gamers, they will recognize that if someone is willing to pay that much money, it's likely an advantage that will allow them to get better gear in the future. It's a payoff cost, and most professionals will understand they'll make more by keeping it.

We gamers are stupid with money. ALOT of us would spend $5 on a cosmetic hat that's only slightly different to the default. I can imagine hard core gamers spending thousands to get any and every advantage. But yeah, by the time vr becomes a reality every currency will be significantly less valuable... Just used Google: $1 in in 1800 is $22.53 in 2022. Over 2000% decrease in value

So since this is pretty far in the future are you assuming inflation has drastically reduced the value of the dollar? Cause 1 million dollars is insane and life changing. I cannot see damn near anyone turning that down for an item in a game that they can’t be sure they will play forever. I could see the information making her a ton of money since it’s lots of people donating a little bit, but 40k for some in game gold? Kinda fuckin crazy.
