No they're not completely reversible at all. They tell you that in those assessments you talk about (and I did) that there are long term consequences even just for the blockers or hormones, so I don't know what your source is, but mine is a specialized endocrinologists. It takes 6 months of psychotherapy every 2 weeks to get the diagnosis, and psychotherapy every 3 months during the hormonal therapy, at least where I did it. But the diagnosis is made by humans anyway, and humans can do mistakes. I know what I talk about, I did it. And the risk cannot be ignored.

Yes, that's the process. You undergo proper and lengthy psych evals. Sometimes for so long that it's basically inaccessible. The notion that kids can just walk into a clinic and ask to transition is fear mongering. Zero's been upset over the inclusion of skin colors, the inclusion of the gender update, pronouns, and now binders and scars. It's almost like everything that deviates from the white cis/het "norm" is "pandering" and "monetization". Is that truly who you wanna agree with?

You quite literally transition "on a whim" because it's a "trend". It's not done at a snap of a finger, it requires months of diagnosis and doctor's visits, and is literally inaccessible to many trans people in the world. NO ONE transitions because it's a "trend". And NO ONE does surgeries on kids. Kids, if they feel like they are trans, can be on puberty blockers that are completely reversible.

Thank you for sharing all of this and your own story. I agree. I do not think children should be subjected to these things. I don't think people should be taking hormone therapy until they've undergone proper and lengthy psych evals, until they've reached adult maturation, perhaps. I say this without struggling with gender dysphoria, but body dysphoria. I have PCOS, which automatically heightens my hormones and causes a bunch of issues, hair growth on my face and hairier than other average woman in general, along with the other reproductive issues that make me feel less than. I've never felt as womanly as I should because of this. I've never properly known how to do my makeup or be more feminine. It's uncomfortable and makes me insecure with myself. So in some smol way, I can empathize, I guess, maybe. There's a lot of pressure to conform to the gender we are born as. Or conform to a lot of things in general, like this radical idea that children should be getting these treatments.

Since it's not EA responsibility what they put in game, they might as well add into it explicit sex and full nudity officially and leave to parents alone the responsibility to regolate what they give to their children. But I guess they have no interest in promoting a perfectly natural human behaviour. .

I believe it's because there is or will be multiple types of medical devices (not just hearing aids), they just all go into the same category hence the broad term they're using.

The system is already complicated and if someone is given irreversible damage to a child then they are the one at fault for malpractice. Restricting access just makes things harder for the ones who legitimately need care. The risk of restricting people even further does not outweigh the risk of a few. The problem isn't access, the problem is quality of care. If the care was reliable with people who adhered to standard practices then the "trenders" wouldn't get those dramatic, life altering changes. Hormones aren't irreversible and neither is cosmetic surgery. If someone was willing to go through surgery when they didn't need it then they should be willing to have surgery to undo the voluntary procedure.

Never ever justify something with it's rare, it's a contradiction. In proportion to the vast majority of people, people with gender identity issue also are rare but that doesn't make them less valid, doesn't make ignoring their struggle justified in any way. Same for trenders as you call it, rare or not. If one exists the concern is real. I don't know if I'm clear I'm drunk.

Trenders are extremely rare, and trying to gatekeep only restricts access to those who need it. I'd rather trust everyone and allow them access and have a few slip through that shouldn't rather than make the process more difficult for everyone. Kids and adults already have to jump through hoops to get the care they need.

Nope you didn't understand at all. I mean that promoting it in a game isn't the best way to stop it from becoming a trend teens follow exclusively because influenced by it. If a kid is completely sure about it they should have access to it, but they also need to be followed by professionals who make absolutely sure, because the therapy isn't a game, and isn't something you can go back from easily.

I guess I didn't understand. Sounded like you didn't think kids should have access to gender affirming care because of your experience.

We're between two fires because yes, stories of detransitionig can be totally used to push that agenda by radicals. About your family member, sometimes acceptance and space is the best thing to give while someone is dealing with their identity and personality.

Thank you for the sharing. I had always see the stories about detransitioning as a Christian republican argument to discriminate transitions. It is important to see that sometimes it exists without religious brainwashing after the transition. Maybe it’s too easy to think physical operations is always the solution. It could be, but not for everyone. Sorry for you. Sorry the society make you thought it was the solution for you. I have a non binary in my family and everyone just waiting for them to choose if they will become a physical men or just reconnect with the female gender. I think I will have to talk to my family to stop this.

Maxis doesn't care about the kids for a long time, I watched the stream yesterday and was horrified to hear that you can play Sims on your phone while your kid is playing in the playground. Maybe it's due to my generation, but when I was at the playground with my kids, I looked out for them and didn't play around with my cell phone. Proposing something like that is just irresponsible. Gender preferences are also a very sensitive issue. It's good that Maxis wanted to address this in the game, but like so many other things, it's implemented so poorly. It's important to see and evaluate all the sides of the question, you can't ingore this one because statistically it's a minority, makes no sense to invalidate people like me who didn't benefit from the HRT or worse regretted it just because there aren't many, and it is especially sad when it's a minority to tell you that you don't matter because you're a minority inside a minority. This is a general complaint towards the LGBT community not related to what you said btw.

Thanks for sharing, I think it's important we talk about the body issues that we all have ( of different levels and variety) growing up so young people know it's normal and hopefully we as grown ups can take our responsibility and actutally get kids the help they need, not to just fulfill some agenda. <3 But companies like EA are just gonna follow the 'cash'.
