Only a show like the Good Place could make me so annoyed with a character like Brent and then make me feel for him in the end.

I think Brent is a really interesting character. The writers clearly wanted to make someone easy to hate and wow did they succeed! He really seems like the last person you would want to spend any time with, especially eternity. I have seen shows with thieves and even killers that I empathize with more. However, his crime was not that he did anything too harmful, it was complete and total selfishness. He believed that the world revolved around him. Then they put him in an experiment where it kind of did. As he seemed to realize that he may not be as good as he thinks, his world was about to crash down on him. I do wonder where he would have gone had the experiment continued. As bad as he is though, at least he is not Dumb Shorts Cathy.
