House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men: Chapter 306: Instigated Conflict III
🕑 Added 2025-06-17 04:40:02 +0000 UTC(Third Person POV)
Lord Rosby stood over several of his fallen comrades, holding his right shoulder as he was covered in blood. Behind him, the remnants of the fierce battle were being swept up by Tyrell riders who skewered them with their spears.
Rosby simply looked around, seeing that despite how many Tyrell and Ashford soldiers they cut down, the numbers simply got to them, eventually whittling them down and crushing them hard. Being able to hit them hard at the start, taking down ten soldiers for each of their fallen ones. But in the end, the reinforcements for House Tyrell flanked them, sweeping through the army and laying waste.
There was nothing but smoke and corpses in the field right outside of Ashford, where the walls were manned by a massive number of Ashford soldiers.
"Tch...." He said as he spat blood on the ground, stumbling forward, "You traitors....."
Lord Tyrell rode towards him, atop his horse, followed by Lord Ashford and a few other riders, their horses trampling surviving Rosby soldiers as they circled him.
"We tried warning you." Lord Tyrell said, "You had no numbers, not against us."
Lord Rosby said, "Numbers?" He said, "You think with numbers you will win? Against House Targaryen? Against the Trinity? That is what this is all about, isn't it?"
"We are Knights and Lords of the Faith!" Lord Tyrell shouted, "The Seven are our gods and we cannot renounce them!"
"I have not renounced them!!" Lord Rosby exclaimed, "Not one of the Crownlands Houses has renounced the Faith!"
"And yet you allow our King to kneel to the Trinity?" Lord Tyrell asked, "Do you not remember what happened to House Bar Emmon and Sharp Point?! Are you going to allow that to slide?"
"Aye, I remember!" He shouted, "But what would you have me do?! If Drakken can do that to Sharp Point, he can do that to King's Landing, he can do that Duskendale, to Rosby, to every single fucking Seat in the Realm!"
"And yet....you fight for him." Tyrell said
"I fight for His Grace, the King." Lord Rosby said, "Not Drakken."
"Jaehaerys is his dog." Tyrell said, "You know that as much as we do."
"What you've done is treason." Rosby said, "Kill me. Get it over with, but you won't escape the wrath of House Targaryen. And if you think that House Drakkengard won't intervene....you are sorely mistaken. You can run to the Stormlands if you want, thinking that his Storm Beast will ward off the Targaryen dragons....but you are mistaken....You rose up for the Faith and he hates the Faith."
"The Reach will not allow what happened to The Riverlands and The Vale to happen to it." Lord Tyrell said
"Do you think that you stand a chance if they couldn't?" Lord Rosby asked, "To this day, House Tully is under siege. Do you truly think that he won't do the same to Highgarden if he wants to? But enough of this....get it over with, traitors. Fucking cut me down if that will satisfy you."
Lord Tyrell dismounted his horse and drew his sword, walking over to him as he had a serious scowl on his face.
"I would have rather you all joined us." Tyrell said, "But alas, you are but a fool."
"I am no traitor." Lord Rosby said, "Go on and kill me. My son will take my place, and he will ride below our Prince's black wings. And he will watch as Fire and Blood is the agent of his vengeance."
Lord Tyrell plunged his sword through Lord Rosby's chest, killing him almost immediately as he twisted the blade.
"Let your son come." Lord Tyrell whispered, "I will be sure to cut his head off too....."
"We should take the remaining survivors as prisoners." Lord Ashford called, "And force them to join us. I believe there are a couple of hundred that were scattered during the flanking sweep."
Tyrell pulled the sword out, and Lord Rosby's body collapsed down, "I suppose that is a wise move." He said, "When the Hightower forces converge with ours, we'll head to the Stormlands and we'll march towards King's Landing."
"Aye." Lord Ashford said, "As you wish, My Lord."
"The Faith will not falter." Lord Tyrell said seriously, "Any word from Redwyne and Tarly?"
"They are on their way." Ashford said, "Worry not."
"Good." Lord Tyrell said, "We won't let this cult get away with-"
He caught something in the corner of his eye, over to the treeline. It was something that seemed to be looking right at them from behind a tree.
"What is it?" Ashford asked
Lord Tyrell took a step forward, squinting as he looked at the treeline, "What in the hells is that?"
Ashford looked over to where he was looking at, seeing the same thing as Lord Tyrell. There was a black figure creeping behind a tree several hundred meters away.
"What..." Ashford said
Suddenly, the figure disappeared, completely dissolving in the air. This left the two Lords and the other riders a bit perturbed.
Lord Tyrell frowned, "What do you think that was?"
"I....I would not know." Lord Ashford said, "I.....that was unsettling."
"Does not matter now. Call the Septon." Tyrell said, "We're moving out."
"To The Stormlands."

[Stony Sept]
"I want to take charge!!!" Maegor shouted as he stood up from his seat, "Drakken!!!"
Drakken ignored him and was looking down at a map, sitting next to his sons, "Now....where do you think we should go?" He asked Riktor, "If you think that the Tyrell army is going to the Stormlands?"
Riktor pointed at Tumbleton, "I think we should go there." He said, "Or at least, a detachment should go there. If anything, we'll provide pressure."
"Now now." Drakken said, "We need to be stealthy. Tumbleton is too close to them, they'll become alarmed. The Targaryens already sent a detachment to meet with the Tyrells and the Septon and another to the Stormlands to confront the Baratheon and Selmy forces."
Riktor looked at the map, "Perhaps....we sneak into the Reach?" He asked, "We go around? There probably is a chance that the Hightowers and the other Houses are a bit behind.....we can intercept them and halt any reinforcements..."
Drakken smirked, "Good idea, my boy."
"We can force them to our ranks!" Sylas said
Maegor walked over to the table, a serious scowl on his face as his eyes pierced the two boys, "What the hells are you talking about?" He said, "Drakken, I require bloodshed! I need to take charge already."
Drakken ignored him again, "How would we do that, Sylas?"
"We lay siege to their Seats...." Sylas said, "Hold their families and castles hostages! Maegor can take his forces and spearhead the rear armies and we'll threaten their families. That way, they will either retreat or join our forces to hit the Tyrells from behind!"
"Yes, that is a good idea!" Riktor said, "We sneak into the Reach, halt the reinforcements by hitting them and force them to surrender by threatening their Seats! We can have Brutus cause some rampaging!"
Drakken patted both their heads, "Nice thinking." He said, "We can do that."
"How would you have done it, Father?" Riktor asked
"If we weren't taking the stealthy approach, I would just bombard their castles and make them rethink their choices." Drakken said
"Drakken!!!" Maegor shouted, "I-"
Drakken snapped his fingers and Maegor collapsed to the ground, his two legs snapped in half as he began to sweat, trying to withstand the pain.
"Quiet." Drakken said seriously
"Urghh...." Maegor grunted
"I understand you want to take charge and go have fun but you will do that when I say so." Drakken looked at him, "Do I make myself clear?"
"You want me to prove to you that I can be of use!" Maegor managed, "And you won't even let me!"
"The Faith and the Targaryens have not fully clashed yet." Drakken said, "The Rosby detachment was defeated outside of Ashford. I have a scout in that area, spying on their movements. They do intend to head to the Stormlands."
"When do we move out then?" Maegor asked
Drakken waved his hand and Maegor's legs were healed, prompting him to stand up as he let out a sigh of relief.
"When the war is nice and ripe." Drakken said, "You will beat the Faith down like you're meant to and we'll force all of them to bend their knees to the Trinity. That is the whole point of this, Maegor."
"Fine...." Maegor said as he panted slightly
"Need I remind you....." Drakken said, "You are nothing but a Hound, a Hound whose entire purpose is to rip apart my enemies."
"Don't forget that."
