"What will Our Lord do with the Ashes?" Ezra asked as he wiped dust off the dust, "That is not for you to concern yourself with, Princess Alyssa."
Alyssa scowled, "W-What do you mean?!" She exclaimed, "Those are the remains of a madman!!"
They were in front of the Trinity Shrine, several worshippers stood before Ezra, who had the box of ashes in front of him, sitting on a table. Viserra and Alyssa were standing behind him, seeing that he was dusting off the box completely, making sure that it was clean and sealed.
Ezra gave her a smile, "Is this a problem, Princess?"
"Of course it is!" Alyssa exclaimed, "W-What could Drakken possibly want with this????"
"Like I said, that is not something you should concern yourself with." Ezra said, "Our Lord, The Great One, always has a reason. But the thing is, this task was for our Dragon Maiden, who always does things faithfully. I have no recollection of wanting to involve you."
Alyssa glared at him, "This is my Family you are messing with."
"It is not I, who is messing with your Family." Ezra said, "It is The God of War and Death. The Truth is...that you are all of Dragon's Blood. Lord Drakken recognizes that.....and that very truth....it is the reason why all of you are alive."
"What?" Alyssa asked
Viserra shifted in her feet, both her hands in front of her, saying nothing.
"Think about it." Ezra said seriously, "Do you truly think that after all the things that has happened....all the things your Father, The King, has done to Drakken....do you think you are not deserving of death? Your House should have been erased by now.....but if your House is erased, then so is your Dragon's Blood. A substance....a power....that is integral to this world, to the Realm. Not because of the Iron Throne....but because of your bond with Dragons."
"What does that mean?" Alyssa frowned, looking at Viserra, "What does he mean, Viserra?"
"I...." Viserra said
"Viserra Targaryen is our Dragon Maiden. She holds knowledge that even you would not comprehend." Ezra said, "I've shared some of my Dreams with her....and she knows things that you don't. The reason why Drakken doesn't kill you all isn't just because of our Lady, Maegelle Drakkengard....it is because the Targaryen bloodline is necessary!"
"Necessary?" Alyssa asked
"The Dragon's Blood must be intact...." Viserra said softly, "For a perpetual source of draconic power.....a reserve...."
"We're.....just.....a source of power?" Alyssa asked
"Lady Maegelle....Princess Saera...." Ezra said as he turned around, "They are his wives, his women. They are exempt from this Law. But the rest of you Targaryens, you are necessary to continue your line. When Jocelyn Baratheon was alive, she was given aphrodisiacs and altered to give Prince Aemon plenty of children. Something within her resisted it, and she only gave him three. He was not going to tamper with you because he knew you and Prince Baelon are quite.....active....."
Alyssa frowned, "I knew he viewed us as cattle.....for draining...." She said softly, "But are we that necessary?"
"Yes." Ezra said, "It is something I don't understand myself. He claimed.....to me....that the Chaos in the fabric of this reality is reliant on this Dragon's Blood....."
"So the reason he....saved me...and Aegon..." She looked down
"It is to keep the Dragon's Blood intact." Ezra said, "Trust me, he would have killed all of you by now. But it is necessary to keep your family alive....your bloodline intact....."
"That is why he is resorting to pure torment." Alyssa said, "To punish us...."
"Correct." Ezra said, "If you ask me, Princess, your Father should have given in long ago....possibly when he offered up Saera Targaryen as payment. Then.....everything would have been perfect.....the Faith would have revolted but immediately destroyed...."
"That is what everyone thinks..." Alyssa said, "Even myself...."
"Yet, your Father won't do it." He said, "He is too proud, too stubborn. Even if now, he is thinking about how better it would be, it is too late. Drakken is unforgiving. He will destroy his very spirits....you can count on that..."
Alyssa then looked at Viserra, "W-What is the purpose of a Dragon Maiden?" She asked, "Why did you choose my sister?"
"Your sister is of pure, untainted Dragon's Blood." Ezra looked at her, "The more she matures while being untainted, the more pristine her draconic magic will get. And when the time comes, Lord Drakken will drain her....a ritual where she is being drained and will be given unimaginable power in exchange....blessing all of us Trinity members in the process."
"What?" Alyssa scowled, "Viserra, you want this?"
"It does not matter what she wants....." A voice boomed, causing the room to shake, "She belongs to us....so she will do as she is told. No matter how she feels....is that not right, Little Viserra?"
Everyone got on their knees, save for Ezra, Viserra, and Alyssa.
The Princess looked over to see that on a shelf, a worn-out helmet had a glowing light inside it. She could not help but feel an overwhelming pressure emanating from said helmet.
"Yes....Lord Sol'Tyr." Viserra had her eyes closed
"So young.....so faithful...this Maiden.....she could very well be....my favorite of you Targaryens...." Sol'Tyr's voice was loud and commanding, "Even above Maegelle...."
"You're...." Alyssa said with a frown
"Alyssa Targaryen.....hm...." Sol'Tyr said, "You wonder what we will do with these ashes? Well, as the Great Lord of War, I will answer you personally: Don't worry about it. What will you do about it, though? Will you...betray us? Go on, I encourage you to do so....the moment you do so....your Mark disappears.....and so will the one on Little Aegon...."
"N-No...." Alyssa said, sweat rolling down her forehead, "Please....I beg of you...."
"Know your place, then." Sol'Tyr said, "I do have a task for you, now that you are here. And you will carry it out."
"W-What?" Alyssa asked
"Dragonstone." Sol'Tyr said, "You have a dragon of your own, right? Fly to Dragonstone.....and procure a piece of the skull of Meraxes."
"Meraxes??" Alyssa asked, "What could you possibly want with-"
"You need not concern yourself with it!" Sol'Tyr's voice shook the room, "Just do as you are told! Procure the piece of skull, a large one.....and a whole tooth while you are at it. And bring it back here. Should you fail, I will not guarantee that Drakken will keep his hands off your precious Baelon Targaryen. Or your boys, at that. The ones who are not Marked, that is."
Alyssa looked down, "V-Very well...."
Viserra looked at her with a frown, "Sister...."
"My Little Viserra...." Sol'Tyr said, "Well done....but I have another task for you. This one will be easier, I hope."
"Yes, My Lord..." She got on one knee
"The man whose these ashes belong to...." he said, "Bring me his shield. It should be somewhere in the Red Keep, hidden....and cast aside....."
"Of course. I will have it done..." Viserra said softly
"Good....." Sol'Tyr said, "The both of you....."
"Do not fail me."
