"Are you satisfied?" I asked Maegelle
We were sitting on the couch in her chambers; she was holding Vaella as usual. She was too busy with looking at our daughter that she probably did not hear what I said.
"Aren't you a joyous bundle, my sweetling...." she said with a bright smile, "You're so beautiful."
"Maegelle." I said
"Hm?" She asked as she looked up at me, "Yes?"
I reached for her cheek, "Are you satisfied?"
She nodded, "Yes." She said as I gently rubbed it, "I am."
"Good." I said, "We'll leave soon."
"Fine." She said softly, "That is fine."
I pulled away and leaned back, "I am surprised that the only trouble we had was that incident with the boys." I said, "But oh well, I can't really complain."
"I hope you're not scheming something." She told me, "Please don't."
"There is nothing to scheme." I said, "But if you must know, it is tempting to give your brothers a bit of tormenting."
I looked at her, she was giving me a frown.
"Why must you be this way?" She sighed, "Here, hold her."
"Hm?" I said, "Why?"
She handed me the girl, "Because you're her father."
I took the baby, "Huh." I said, "Well, that is true, but...."
I looked at Vaella, she was looking up at me with a curious face. She was much like her brothers when they were babies, so full of innocence and curiosity. But unlike them, she was so quiet. Those two cried whenever their mothers didn't hold them, so I never bothered.
She didn't cry.
Hm.
I suppose that is nice.
I looked at her red eye, it was just like mine, save for the dragon feature.
Maegelle leaned against me, "She's beautiful, isn't she?"
"Hm." I said, "I suppose so."
"She's yours." Maegelle said, "She's mine too. We made her.....aren't you proud of that?"
"Pride is not the feeling I have." I said as I tilted my head, "It's more.....surprise."
"Surprise?" She asked
"This pure thing came from me?" I asked, "Her eye is red.....it's the only thing of mine I see in her. The rest.....it's you.....is it really my daughter?"
"It is." Maegelle wrapped her arms around my neck, "She's your daughter. I want you to treat her well, Drakken. She's your little girl....."
I looked at Vaella, who smiled as she reached out for me, "Anyone dares harm her..." I said seriously, "I will end them. I will destroy everything for her....."
"That's a promise."
*************
"We're leaving already?" Riktor asked me, "That's good.....I guess..."
I looked at him, "What? I thought you preferred it at Harrenhal." I said, "What gives?"
We were in the dining hall, I had just told him that we were about to take our leave and head back to Harrenhal. Something told me that he was not fond of that idea, which I find odd.
He looked around, to make sure if nobody was seeing, "Well, I wanted to spend time with Princess Rhaenys." He whispered, "See if I gave a chance."
"The girl is older than you." I said, "But if you want to make a move, by all means. And you're not even ten, Riktor, focus on the more important things."
"Oh yea, like what?" He asked
I flicked his forehead with my finger, which caused him to stumble, "Your training, you buffoon." I told him with a scowl, "What, you want to cast that aside for a little girl? Please, you don't have the luxury."
"Wouldn't it be nice if we added more Targaryens to the bloodline?" He said as he rubbed his forehead, "Mama Maegelle, Mama Saera.....and the Princesses...."
"Hm." I said as I crossed my arms, "I don't really care. But that is not a worry of mine."
"How so?" He asked
I turned around, "One day, you'll figure it out." I said, "What I meant by that."
"Are we done here?" Mya walked up to me, "I am rather eager to leave this place."
"Maegelle is spending time with her mother. Saera is with them." I said, "But yes, we are going to leave this place."
"I am glad that is the case." Mya said as she reached for Riktor's hand, "I have much work to do at Harrenhal."
"Where is Sylas?" I asked as I looked around
"I think he went with Mama Saera." Riktor said
"Hm." I said, "That one....she's rather obsessed, isn't it?"
"In a way." Mya said
"Drakken." I heard a voice say
I turned around to see Vaegon Targaryen walking up to me with a serious scowl, "Hm?"
He stopped a couple of feet away and pointed at me, "I know." He said, "I know it all."
"Know what?" I asked with a raised eyebrow
"You.....you manipulated my sisters, didn't you?" He asked
"Which ones?" I asked with a slight smirk, "If you mean Maegelle and Saera, in a way, yes. But not how you think."
"No." Vaegon said, "Alyssa and Viserra."
"Oh, them." I said, "No, I don't think I did. Why do you ask?"
"They've been acting strange." Vaegon said seriously, "Ever since you got here....."
"Years of me terrorizing this family would do that to you." I said with a chuckle, "But there is nothing going on."
"I'll figure it out." Vaegon said, "What you did-"
"Hey, why don't you go for Gael?" I asked Riktor, "She's younger than you and she's Maegelle's sister."
"She's Mama's sister, wouldn't that make her like my aunt?" Riktor replied
I shrugged, "You're not related by blood." I said, "Why even go for Rhaenys if she's Maegelle's niece?"
"I mean, she would be considered a cousin, but like you said, we're not related by blood." He said, "Besides, I haven't even seen her."
"Strange....." I said, "Neither have I. Hey, Vaegon, where is that little squirt?"
"Don't worry about it." Vaegon said seriously
"It is not like Our Lord will harm the girl." Mya said with a chuckle, "With his daughter just born, I believe he would be in a good mood."
"Silence." Vaegon snapped, "I am not speaking to you, you-"
I appeared in front of him, holding a dagger to his throat that I conjured out of thin air, "Careful, buddy..." I said seriously, "It is my last day here, I could leave your family a departing gift....which would be your head in a box."
"You wouldn't." He said
"You got balls, I'll give you that." I said as I pressed the blade against his throat, "But you're no fighter, Vaegon. You're just a little prick with a huge ego. One day, I'll ensure you learn your place."
"Beneath the dirt I walk on."
