[Some Time Later....]
"D-Drakken...!" Maegelle said as she squeezed my hand tightly while she was in her bed, her legs in position to give birth, "P-Promise....me!!"
I looked at her, "What is it?" I asked, "Take steady and deep breaths."
She looked at me, her face covered in sweat as she had a serious frown, "N-No.....torture....today...!" She said as she grimaced, "Please.....not today....! Leave the poor woman....alone....."
I sighed, "She's anything but poor..." I said, "But sure, I suppose."
We were in her chambers, in the final stretches of her labors. I was there the entire time at Mya's request and well, let's just say that I was very bored throughout the whole thing. Maegelle was doing fine, I suppose, but she could not let go of my hand.
"We're closer, My Lady." the handmaiden said, "You're doing great."
"Ohh...." Maegelle said, "Curses...this....hurts...."
"You'll be fine." I said, "Don't worry about it."
She looked at me with a worried look, "B-But.....I hear many women die during childbirth...!" She said, "W-what if....?"
"No." I said, "You're fine. I would smell it by now. And do you think I would allow that to happen? Who do you think you are with right now?"
"Now now, Maegelle..." Mya leaned in from the other side, patting a rag on her forehead, "This is your first time, it could be painful but once it happens, you'll feel relieved. It is a wonderful experience.....well, I've only had it one time as well."
Maegelle huffed, "O-Oh.....alright...." She said, "Ah...."
"Keep pushing, I can see the head." The handmaiden said, "You're doing lovely, My Lady."
Maegelle leaned back and closed her eyes, "A-And you want me to go through more of this....????" She said, "Drakken...!!"
I nodded, "Yes." I said with a smile, "I believe you'll want it too."
She looked at me, "Y-You are an idiot...!" She forced a smile, "Sometimes, you anger me....."
I leaned in and kissed her cheek, "Just focus on now." I told her, "We'll worry about the rest later."
"Ahhh....!" She let out, "Finneee....!!"
Suddenly, there was crying heard as the Handmaiden let out a soft gasp.
"Oh, come here, you...." She said as she pulled away
"Crying...that is good." Mya said as she wiped sweat off Maegelle's face, "It's done. You did well, Maegelle."
I looked at Maegelle, her face softened as the crying got louder and louder, the sound of a healthy baby. Her eyes went straight ahead, looking at the child, I am sure. I could not take my eyes off her, how she looked beautiful right at this moment. She was simply divine, the way her fair skin began to glow due to the light reflecting off her sweet. The way her face no longer had a hint of discomfort or pain, it was simply covered in relief.
I did not know what to think at the moment.
She was beautiful.
She was perfect.
"Oh my." The Handmaiden said, "Lord Drakken, congratulations, your first daughter has just been born."
I blinked and straightened up, "Daughter?" I said, looking over at her, "It's a girl?"
I watched as other maids were helping her clean the child up and wrapping her up in a blanket.
"A girl....how wonderful." Mya said, "I am sure the boys will be delighted to hear that they have a sister."
"A-A daughter...." Maegelle said, not letting go of my hand, "L-Let me see her....I want to hold her....."
The Handmaiden walked over to my side, smiling as the child slowed her crying down, "Here you go." She said as she handed her to Maegelle, "A beautiful girl, Lady Maegelle...."
I raised my hand, keeping her from handing the baby to Maegelle, "Wait." I said seriously, "Let me see her."
The Handmaiden looked at me with surprise, "O-Oh..." She said, "Well, with Lord Riktor and Lord Sylas, you did no-"
"I will hold her." I cut her off
"Of course!" She said, flustered and gently handed me the girl, "Of course, My Lord!"
I took the baby in my arms as Maegelle was looking at me with surprise, "Hm...." I said as I held her in my arms, "A daughter....."
The moment she was in my arms, she stopped crying, merely rubbing her tiny hands against her cheek as she frowned. I saw that she had white hair, like her mother's, and her eyes were open slightly. What I saw genuinely surprised me, my face softening.
She had heterochromia; mismatched eyes.
Her right eye was purple, like Maegelle's, and her left was red, like mine.
It took me by surprise, I did not expect her to have this condition. I mean, it doesn't mean anything dire or anything, I was just taken aback by it. My sons did not have it, they both had my eyes, signifying their relation to me.
But her?
She had both of our eyes.
I did not know what to make of this.
It was a surprise, to be sure. But not a bad one.
"D-Drakken?" Maegelle said, "Is everything okay?"
I looked at her, "Yes." I said with a slight smile, "She's fine."
"C-Can I...?" She offered her arms, "Please...?"
I nodded, "Yea." I said as I handed her the girl, "Of course."
As she took her in her arms, she saw her eyes almost immediately, and she gasped.
"Oh....my...." She said as she let out a smile, "Look at you, my beauty.....your eyes are divine....."
Mya leaned over, "Oh yes." She said with a warm smile, "One purple, one red....meaning she is half Maegelle and half Drakken."
"Hm." I said simply as I stepped back and placed my hands behind my back, "Sure, you can say it like that."
Maegelle leaned in and kissed the girl on her cheek, "My beautiful daughter....." She said softly, "My Vaella...."
I raised an eyebrow, "Vaella?"
She nodded, "Yes." She said, "I told you, didn't I? I wanted to name our daughter Vaella, if I had one. And here she is, our Vaella."
I tilted my head, "I guess."
"What were you thinking of?" She looked at me
I shrugged, "Nothing in particular." I said, "I didn't think of any names this time around. Mya named Riktor and Daranne simply picked out a name from a list I told her about; names from my world."
Maegelle looked at the girl, "Well...." She said, "It is decided.....Vaella Drakkengard.....your firstborn Daughter...."
I nodded, "Sure." I said, "I am fine with that."
Mya reached in and patted the girl's cheek, "She is simply magnificent, Maegelle." She said, "Oh, how I cannot wait to spoil her rotten. She is going to be delightful to be with."
Maegelle chuckled, "Of course." She said, "D-Drakken?"
"What?" I asked
"Is it alright if we can go show my Mother?" She asked, "If she is not allowed here, then I would like to visit her?"
"Do you truly want that?" I asked with a serious look
"Y-Yes...." she said, "For once....put aside your ire against my Family....as selfish as it sounds of me.....but....allow us to coexist peacefully...for me....for her....."
I sighed, "I guess." I said, "But.....on one condition."
"What is it?" She asked
I leaned in closer to her, gently holding her chin, "Once you're well and rested...." I said with a slight smirk,
"I will not let you sleep."
