"M-Mother...." I said as I walked inside her chambers, "I....I need to speak to you.."
She stood up from her seat, "Baelon!" She exclaimed, "Why are you out walking? And you have bare feet? You should be in bed, resting!!"
She quickly walked over to me, hugging my arm, and began to help me limp over to her bed. I did not resist, simply went along with her movements. She sat me down on the bed and gently pushed me down to my back.
"Mother...." I said as my voice got coarser, "I am fine...."
"No...." She said as she adjusted a pillow on the back of my head, "You are not...."
I panted slightly as she gently placed a blanket over me.
"Why am I lying in your bed....I just need to speak...." I told her as she sighed and sat on the bed next to me, "Mother...."
"Shh..." She said as she placed the back of her hand on my forehead, "I do not want you to stubbornly worsen your condition, Baelon. Speak if you need to, you will stay in bed. You can sleep here if you want, nobody will bother you."
"Mother..." I said as I blinked slowly, feeling the throbbing sensation all over my body, "I.....I..."
"It is okay child..." She patted my cheek, "You can speak your concerns to me...."
"I know....that we are not blood..." I told her, "But.....you are my Mother.....and I will always love you..."
"I know.." She said softly, "I know, Baelon. I love you as well, I always have..."
"I can speak to you in confidence." I told her, "I...my heart belongs to Heleana...."
"It does." She said, "I know it does."
"But...." I said, "Recently...I have discovered one thing....."
"What is it?" She asked me
"I also have feelings for her....for Rhaenyra...." I said, "But I still love Helaena with all my heart...is it wrong? Is it a sin?"
Mother sighed, "No..." She said softly, "It is not, child....my Baelon, my sweet and beautiful boy....it is not wrong....I know that Rhaenyra loves you....I know the way she feels for you...and the guilt she has...the two of you...you have gotten in a fight....but all of that matters not.....you are going to marry her...."
"I care for her..." I said, "I.....I had a dream, Mother....when I was bleeding out and dying..."
"What?" She asked, "What did you dream about?"
"I had a son...." I said softly, "His name was Valerion.....and he was the best thing Helaena had ever given me...he was beautiful....he was perfect...everything I ever wanted...."
"Oh, Baelon..." Mother said with a smile, "Helaena will give you a son, I am sure of it."
"And...." I said, "That joy did not last long.....it had turned out that I was raped....and....a bastard came from it...."
"W-What? In your dream?" She asked
"Daella was her name...." I told her, "And she was beautiful, Mother. You should have seen her....she was so beautiful.....I....I did not want her at first....but the way that Rhaenyra and Helaena smiled at her.....it made me realize I was so cold...that I was a cunt...."
"Baelon...." She said
"But...." I said, "I came to accept her.....Daella.....she....she was perfect.....I.....she was not real....none of them were.....I...."
"Shhh..." She leaned down and kissed me on the forehead, "We will speak more on this later....you need to sleep....just close your eyes and let the slumber overtake you....."
My eyes felt heavy and I closed my eyes.
"I....." I said softly, "Right...."
**************
My eyes shot open, as if someone had forced me awake, "W-What?!" I exclaimed as my entire body throbbed, "M-Mother...."
I was still in mother's bed, nobody was around me.
I groaned as I sat up, my entire body feeling numb. It was strange, I could feel nothing but pain for a few seconds and then nothing but numbness in the next. I had no idea what was happening to my body and I was too frustrated to try and find out.
I turned my entire body to get out of the bed, feeling the cold stone under my bare feet.
I panted, "Shit…." I said as I stood there for a few seconds, trying to adjust my senses, "What….why is everything so numb…?"
I slowly walked over to the open window, seeing that it was dark outside. There was a slight breeze causing the curtains to flow inwards.
I reached the window and for some reason, I felt no wind.
That was strange.
I leaned on the window and looked outside, the entire city before me. It was quiet, eerily quiet.
Was this a dream?
I did fall asleep.
No, I am sure I was awake.
This could be my mind playing tricks on me.
I stepped to the side and tripped on something, "What?" I said as I felt my arm hit the table that was next to the window, "Ah…."
I had fallen to one of my knees, my arm was on the table and I felt something throbbing on it. It felt odd but I merely straightened up, getting back to my feet as I looked at my arm.
I saw that there was a piece of steel embedded into my forearm. It looked like a broken piece of a fire poker.
"W-what the hells?" I said as I lifted my arm, there was no pain, just numbness
"Baelon?" I heard Mother's voice behind me
I looked back to see her walking up to me, "Mother…I…"
"Gods, Baelon!" She exclaimed, "Are you okay?!"
She ran up to me, holding my arm gently as she grabbed a rag and placed it on my bleeding wound.
I merely stared at the wound, there was no pain, no feeling coming from it. It was strange because my entire body occasionally got jolts of pain and nothing but throbbing sensations.
"What…is wrong with me?" I asked, "I felt nothing….No pain…."
She slowly pulled the piece out, "The Maester said that the concoctions he gave you to drink will dull your senses." She said softly as she began to bandage up my arm with the wound, "I will have someone come and stitch you up….you are fine?"
"It is just blood…" I said, "I am fine."
I felt as she tightened the rag around my arm, keeping it bandaged. She then gently held my hand and rubbed it with her soft hands.
"Baelon…." She said with a concerned face, "Come….sit down. You need rest.”
She walked me over to the couch as she gently pulled my healthy arm.
“Why is the city so quiet?” I asked her, “It is eerie.”
“Do not worry.” She said as she sat me down
She sat down next to me and pulled me into a hug, embracing me tightly.
“Mother?” I said
She rubbed my hair, “You are my boy…” she said softly, “My beautiful boy….if I lost you, I do not know what I would have done.”
“You….have other sons.” I said, “I….”
“But you are also mine.” She said as she kissed my head, “Do you understand?”
“I do…” I said
“Your enemies will be destroyed.” She said seriously, “I will ensure that they do not get to live another day. I give you my word.”
“My beautiful boy.”
