[Stormlands, A Few Days Later]
"Lord Arryn, it is surprising to see you." Boremund Baratheon said as he approached Rodrik Arryn on his horse, "What is a man of the Vale doing all the way here for this shite?"
Both their armies have met in a field in between two villages, near Storm's End. The Lord of The Eerie had commanded the men granted to him by Jaehaerys in fighting some Essosi forces that tried to flank around the Baratheon armies. Now, the two Lords have met with each other.
Rodrik nodded, "Lord Baratheon." He said, "We have lost Driftmark to Drakken's beast. In order to put an end to this wretched war, His Grace has sent me to lead 10,000 men strong to repel the Essosi."
"That's good." Boremund said, "One issue, however."
Rodrik frowned, "What is it?"
Boremund turned his horse around and nodded at a distant hill, over the hill, a massive cloud of smoke was seen.
"Over that hill, The Duskguard reside." He said, "The Essosi made a move, moving further towards Storm's End and when my men tried to repel them, the Duskguard swarmed in and obliterated them. It was a thing out of a nightmare, they were mowed down like weeds."
"By the gods...." Rodrik said, "His Grace said that our top priority was the Essosi threat. Should we have a chance, we need to broker an agreement with Drakken."
"That could be harder than you think." Boremund said, "I heard House Dayne sent a band of 50 men to raid his encampment, an attempt to kidnap the King's daughter and take her back to King's Landing. Drakken may not be happy about that; those men's heads and limbs were returned in boxes as their torsos were strung up around the camp."
Rodrik shuddered, "He does not play around, does he?"
"He's a maniac, a monster with unimaginable power." He said, "And he is responsible for my sister's death."
Rodrik looked at him, "Is that so?"
"I have reason to believe that he taunted the Essosi to band together and assault Westeros." He said, "There is no other way of putting it. I want his head.....!!"
"That is an impossible wish, My Lord." Rodrik told him, "There is nothing that can kill him. The only thing we can do is prevent the genocide of our Westerosi people."
"Of course." Boremund said, "And I get to take my anger out on these Essosi fucks."
Rodrik looked up to the sky, seeing that they have been getting darker and the sound of thunder was imminent.
"A storm approaches." Rodrik said, "We should advance. If the Essosi are crushed in this region, we should make contact with the Duskguard."
"Is that even wise?" Boremund asked
"I will send a courier." Rodrik said as he gestured someone over, "We shall regroup on one of your nearby Forts, My Lord. Set a meeting up there, that way the danger will be diverted from your Seat."
"Fine then." Boremund said, "A fort is nearby, 15 miles northeast. I will head there, go and send your messenger."
****************
"Lord Arryn!!" a soldier shouted, "This is bad!!"
Rodrik and Boremund were standing under a tarp as rain began to fall over the fort where they were camping out on.
They looked over, "What is it?" Rodrik asked, "What's going on?"
"Essosi!!" he shouted, "They're on their way!!"
"What?" Boremund asked, "How many?!"
"I don't know, at least 5,000!!" He said, "Our scouts saw them pushing through, they destroyed two villages at the very least on the way. They somehow found out that we're camped out here!! They're coming here!"
"We have more men." Boremund said, "What the hell are they thinking?"
"This could be some sort of pincer attack...." Rodrik said, "5,000 from one side and possibly far more from another side....House Martell has reported a large portion of the forces they engaged in the Marches simply disappeared....."
"Curses, that is right!" Boremund said, "And The Duskguard simply let them go! I knew it was too convenient that they stationed themselves over here!! Men!! Prepare for battle! Fortify our positions!!"
Rodrik let out a sigh, "This is not something I figured I would be doing?"
"I know right." a voice said, one that sent a chill down their spines
They widened their eyes and looked up to see Drakken sitting down atop one of the stone ramparts of the fort, a slight smirk on his face, his red eyes glowing.
"Y-You...!!!" Boremund exclaimed
Some soldiers drew their swords as others aimed their bows, the arrows nocked.
Drakken simply waved his hand, and all of them were on the ground, slammed down via his telekinesis. Everyone but Rodrik and Boremund were pinned down hard, unable to get back to their feet.
"W-What do you want, Drakken?" Rodrik said, trying to keep his composure
Drakken jumped down and landed right in front of him, "An explanation." He said with a chuckle, "Why.....is House Dayne trying to take my Maegelle?"
Rodrik gulped, "I-I do not know..." He said, "Lord Dayne did not inform us of this attempt..."
"Right...right...." Drakken said, "Well.....I suppose that the King will not be happy considering that I obliterated Drifmark....Sayy.....do you want me to bring Grayle over here? To the Stormlands? Storm's End?"
"You....!!" Boremund took a step forward but Rodrik raised his arm to stop him
"Drakken." Rodrik said, "What you did was uncalled for.....those people were innocent.....House Velaryon had nothing to do with the attempt on your life."
"Hm." Drakken said, "Is that so? Did you have to do anything with it?"
"Well...." Rodrik started
"Ah, doesn't matter." Drakken said, "You see...I don't need Grayle to come to the Stormlands....I have another fitting weapon for this land....I mean, storm is in its name!!"
"Wait...." Boremund widened his eyes
"Oh yes." Drakken said, "Ammaria will descend upon this region. But not now.....soon....in the meantime, I want you lo to enjoy the battle. My Duskguard and your men are going up against the Essosi. The Battlefield has been set.....and I will display to you two how powerful I am....."
"This is a war!!"
******************
As the battle outside of the fort ensued, Boremund and Rodrik stood atop the ramparts, watching the onslaught being carried out by the Duskguard.
Thousands of Essosi had gathered in an attempt to assault the forces of House Baratheon and House Targaryen, led by Rodrik. But the Duskguard had other plans, intercepting them with ease and mowing down the flesh like they were nothing.
Rodrik witnessed first hand how vicious the Duskguard was, how the marked soldiers fought with little to no regard for damage, taking the blows and returning the damage tenfold. Every swing of a sword was enough to rip apart a whole human torso and that terrified Rodrik.
Drakken watched the entire thing with a grin on his face, his hands on hi the pockets of his pants as the breeze caused his coat to flutter to the side.
"Hehe...." He said, "This is fun!! Pure carnage.....I mean, participating is far better...but standing back here and watching it is sure nice....especially when I know that I will reap the rewards....."
"The rewards?" Rodrik asked
"Oh yea." Drakken said as he extended his arms forward, "Watch...."
Suddenly, a black flame-like aura emerged from the ravaged battlefield. Then, in an instant, it flew towards Drakken and siphoned into him. Drakken took the power into himself as he smirked viciously, shaking with excitement.
"Oh...." He said as his dragon eyes glowed brightly, a menacing glint to them, "This never gets old....."
"W-What.....?" Boremund said
"The Battlefield is mine...." Drakken said as he composed himself, "Anyone who fights in it is subject to my control....and should they fall in battle, one of two things can happen.....they can be brought back to life as my subjects...or their deaths turn into pure power and I can absorb it...."
"Y-You cannot be serious...." Rodrik muttered
To the right of the fort, a large force of Essosi soldiers appeared, barreling towards the fighting with vicious war-cries.
Drakken clapped his hands loudly, "Step back!!" He called out to his Duskguard, "I'm about to do something nice!"
The Duskguard who were on the battlefield, finishing up their current foes, straightened up and looked to the side. The Essosi were inching closer by the second and Drakken merely smirked.
"Ah.....like moths to a flame...." He said as he waved his right arm to the side, "Fools..."
Suddenly, the area where the Essosi were on exploded with flames and lightning, a massive wall of said flames erupted into the sky. The screams of pain and agony were heard throughout the air as it was mixed with the sounds of crackling lightning exploding everywhere.
Both Boremund and Rodrik stared at this with pure shock, how the Essosi were instantly killed by a sudden explosion of flames and lightning.
"Grayle's Flame Lightning....." Drakken said with a smirk, "Such a potent power....capable of obliterating anything.....oh boy..... It's been a while since I've used it...."
The flames eased down, reduced to nothing but a wall of flames that measured around 10 feet. The smoke emitted was pure black, and the smell of incinerated flesh was prominent, mixing with the smell of rain.
"Impossible...." Rodrik said as he stumbled to the side, "S-Such power....."
"Right." Drakken said as he turned around and waved his hand again
Suddenly, a large portion of the fort behind them was replaced by a massive explosion of flames and lightning that caused a shockwave that ripped apart the ground around it. Those who were not caught up in the explosion were flung out of their feet into the air, hitting the walls hard.
Boremund and Rodrick were nearly toppled over the rampart, only stopped by Drakken's telekinesis as he tossed them back to the ground.
"D-Drakken!" Rodrik exclaimed with horror in his face, "W-What is the meaning of this?! We did nothing to you!!"
"Hm." Drakken said with a serious look, "So......"
"I heard you married Daella."
